The show kind of sucked, but I was glad I stayed up for the Big Show vs Braun Strowman match that was which was quite entertaining. It's easily the best Big Show match in, well, a very long time. Afterwards Roman attacks and Brain wipes him out too. Roman vs Braun is going to rule.

After the show Rock came to the ring and called CM Punk who I'm sure is super happy he let it go to voicemail. I'm 50-50 on whether he was tipped off about the call coming or not.

Punk tweeted out his thanks to the Staples Center. How you don't show Rock at all or Austin who was also in the back is beyond me. We really needed that Steph ego mad promo which made zero sense after Dana interfered in the first place. Raw moved things along, but it all felt clunky or boring.

There is wayyy more to the Rock-Punk thing:

They're apparently already filming for the movie about Paige's family that Rocky is producing and filmed a recreation of Paige's debut main roster match between "Paige" and "AJ" after the show was over, using a pair of indie wrestlers as their Wrestling Stunt Doubles. When Rock was giving the crowd a heads-up explaining it all, AJ's name led to CM Punk chants which led to his phone call.

Also - was Corey Graves the first person to accidentally call Cesaro "Claudio" on WWE TV?

I was actually enjoying that Cesaro/Sheamus vs. Enzo/Cass match, especially Cesaro cutting off Enzo with his uppercut. When Enzo and Cass won I actually popped a little bit at them maybe finally getting the titles.

Then Roman Reigns single-handedly beat up the tag champs (again) and the New Day did...whatever the hell that was they did with Rusev. Was all of that just to make a "Russians are hackers joke"? Needless to say, that deflated whatever excitement I was briefly feeling about the tag teams.

I probably sound like a broken record, but what terrible booking of the women once again. Bayley is the ultra babyface, if given the option to give up the title, she should. If you don't want to go the route of giving up the title then don't even bring that up as an option. First they shoehorn Sasha into a babyface she can't play and now that they have a proper babyface she isn't acting like it.

The opening solo with Owens was very good and shows how good he is. The destruction of Sami was well done with Joe feeding him to Owens. Sami must have been sore after all of that! Can he keep the title against Goldberg? Unlikely but I hope he does. There are a lot of ways it could happen, and also a lot of ways he loses. 1 on 1 he loses, but add in Joe, Jericho and possibly HHH then lots could happen.

Cesaro hitting Enzo in mid air was fantastic. Each week I dislike Enzo and Cass a bit more. The opening promo must be a shout out to the New Age Outlaws by starting the same every time but this is just getting boring, and the pointing Cass does is first day of training school stuff. Am I right in thinking he has been with WWE for about 4 or 5 years down at the Performance Centre and NXT? If so then there needs to be a change. Corbin and Strowman have been a couple of years and a long way ahead.

Speaking of Strowman, he is great. Each week he seems to get better and as they are allowing him to destroy the great Reigns each week they must be loving him as well. I know he isn't a great wrestler, but he is worth watching and can impress you. Main event against Show was a big thing for him and he rose to the occasion and beat down Roman after. A good nights work.

If they were doing all of that stuff with Bayley they might have been better off letting her give up the title and then beat Charlotte to claim it properly there and then. By keeping it, it seemed a strange segment and Sasha was made to seem like a great face by confronting Steph, but she is a heel and should be one again. Why do they do it with her, but refuse to do it with Roman?

Would have been great to have been in the crowd with the Rock stuff happening before and after the show. A fantastic bonus. He certainly does what he wants, when he wants. Phoning Punk and getting a CM Punk chant going like that was amusing and would have made a great voicemail for Punk. Vince, HHH, Dunn etc must have been pissed. Just like when he highlighted the people dressed up as old wrestlers. They need him more than he needs them. Especially if he now has the footage for his film about Paige and her family!

I've seen multiple scenarios involving Joe, Jericho and HHH but I don't think I've seen anyone mentioning the most obvious, simplest solution. Thirteen years ago, Goldberg didn't just defeat Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. On the PPV prior to the biggest show of the year, he attacked Lesnar, causing him to lose his title to Eddie Guerrero. Screwing Goldberg out of the title match would no only serve multiple storylines, it would repay a 13 year old debt.

I doubt Goldberg is sticking around after Mania and I don't think Vince wants to put the title on a part-timer again, so there's no reason for the title to be involved in the match.

The Owens promo was great.

Braun. Still digging this road.

I've grown to really not like Enzo.

The Rock post-show stuff was fun. At first I thought Vince had to have approved it, but then I realized Rock really doesn't care and does what he wants and Vince goes with it. I don't know if anyone else has Vince's number like Rock does.

It was funny. I laughed. But it took 5 uninteresting minutes to set up and didn't amount to anything. Also, we're supposed to be excited that New Day is "hosting" Wrestlemania? Isn't that supposed to be for a guest who isn't wrestling? Are they doing this instead of wrestling? We're supposed to be happy that New Day is doing nothing of note at Wrestlemania?

Maybe I'm dwelling too much on the bad stuff because Owens and Strowman were definitely high points, but this is just a complete waste. If the WWE were willing to make the New Day serious faces they would be great in the spot Sami's in. You could do Big E vs. Joe at Fastlane, a match up that people would believe as even instead of Sami just getting squashed every week. Then you could do New Day vs. Joe/Hunter at Wrestlemania. But instead I guess New Day will be there to pour cereal on people and talk about ice cream.

I guess Big E's Russian line got edited out in the replay. Rock doing fun Rock stuff is more entertaining than almost anything the WWE is doing. I just have this terrible feeling that the end of Mania is HHH/Kevin/Joe standing tall over Jericho at Mania then we have to hope Roman saves us.

Good point about No Way Out '04, and I like this idea. Then we have Owens vs. Jericho at WrestleMania, with Jericho winning the title? I'd dig that.

That's exactly what I immediately got out of that whole announcement. Isn't a wrestlers dream to be able to wrestle at Wrestlemania? Doesn't seem like something they would or should be bragging about.

Recent hosts for Wrestlemania include Hulk Hogan and the Rock. It's a high profile position for New Day to be in, and I'd say that it's much better for them than being in some kind of multi-tag team match. They'll be in multiple segments, they're going to have a ton of props to play with...

In Owens' promo he said he "plays the game" better than everyone. That can't just be a throwaway line - I expect to see it in a lot road to Wrestlemania promo over the next few weeks.

like, say, an ice cream machine

I would prefer they get on with whatever is next for New Day, as they've been stuck in some holding pattern since losing the tag team titles. It's just feeling more likely that WWE has no idea on what's next for the New Day, and that's why this is what it is.

Judging by the "Thank you Sheamus" chants after he Brogue Kicked Enzo, you're not alone in that.

It's interesting though, because they do get a nice pop when the music plays. There's plenty of sing-along from the crowd. But I guess Enzo's actions are slightly heelish?

I noticed when the 2 teams ran into eachother backstage last week that Enzo talked then hid behind Cas. Usually he doesn't do that--he's more like Scrappy Doo. Outmatched but he doesn't care/realize it. But now he did. So yeah..more heelish for sure.

Owens' promo was great. And him warning Foley was just as great.

I had no problems with Bayley standing up for herself (at the end) and not giving in to the evil heel lady.
It also feeds into the story that Sasha will turn on her because Bayley does get to do all the things she feels she's destined to do (keep the title when the heel wants it back, defeat Charlotte at a ppv)

The visual of Brock looking into the camera with Heyman talking was different in a good way.

Strowman-Big Show was actually a fun match that included chain wrestling. wtf

Lowpoint was Reigns demolishing the tag champs..Ugh.

I don't understand why they edited out the Russian hacker line because I thought they were getting at that all through the segment. "Haha! Our plans are safe on this device" "But I have them right here...." "whaaaaaaa?"
If it had been with anyone other than the Russian chick, ok I get it but this is just silly
Handsome Rusev and Hardbody Mahal actually applauding for "we will have ice cream" was funny. Everyone wants ice cream.

Interesting that he claims the book contains his "amazing adventures" in Mexico, Japan, etc. Isn't that a bit hyperbolic?
