Here are some more thoughts from a demented mind in Central Florida: Now that I finally have some money saved up in the bank, I'm thinking about getting a Wii (as it appears that there are a few around town). Before I do so, I'm trying to find answers to a few questions, to let me decide whether or not to get rid of my old Gamecube in exchange for it. Any help that the Ws here can provide me would be much appreciated.
1) Has anyone used any of the special controllers (read: The DK Bongos) for games like DK Jungle Beat or Donkey Konga on the Wii? Any problems with compatability?
2) Is it true that old Gamecube controllers can be used for games from the Wii Virtual Console? Does this also include third party Gamecube controllers?
3) Are my Gamecube memory cards any good for transferring over my Gamecube date to any old Gamecube games that I want to play on the Wii?
4) Has anyone had any problems playing an old Gamecube game on the Wii?
Why yes, I am both a musician and a lawyer. Thanks for asking. :)
I'll answer some; it helps to know that when playing Gamecube games, the Wii becomes a GameCube. This is important.

Yes, just tested w/Kirby's Adventure. By extension, third-party controllers should work but I don't know how reliable they are other than the one I have stashed in a box.

Yes.

None for me; there hasn't an outbreak of compatibility problems that I'm aware of except the few games that use the modem/GCN LAN adapter; in those cases any Internet/LAN connectivity functions of those games won't function.
Also, keep in mind that you can't save GCN data to the Wii and you can't operate the Wii Remote while playing a Gamecube game. GCN peripherals that don't connect to the controller or memory card ports (e.g. Game Boy Player, modem, LAN adapter) won't work with Wii. Another minor note is that you don't receive any message of the playtime spent playing Gamecube games.
