Joel Quenneville will return to the franchise he began his NHL coaching career with in 1994-95 as the fourth head coach in Colorado Avalanche and 12th in franchise history. Tony Granato, who has been the head coach for the last season and a half, will work along with Jacques Cloutier as assistant coaches to Joel Quenneville.
Any Avalanche fans wanna chime in on this? Seeing as he was so underwhelming here in St Louis, I found it hard to imagine he would get a head coaching job with a pretty decent team, I always figured he would latch on someplace like New York, or someplace else where the talent wasnt performing or they had a lot of young players.
Dude, he was an awesome coach and St. Louis is retarded for letting him go.
He was underwhelming...he is no different of a coach then Jacques Martin. The Avs took a step forward in replacing Granato, but they aren't going anywhere soon.

As someone else said, the Conference had some awesome teams and the blues never went out and got even a decent goalie.
And if you're going by those standards, when have the Blues ever had a "great" coach, considering they've never won it all?
I'm surprised Granato stayed on as an assistent... Quenneville is a big media darling in these parts, but I haven't seen too much of him to warrent such praise.
