* $10 gift certificate for PSN * 30 day free trial of PS+ * 30 day free trial of the Sony music thing.
I'm sure I'll use that $10 to buy something on my PS3. Unsure if you can add those 30 days onto an existing PS+ subscription; apparently similar deals said yes, so there's a chance.
So on the Target website, they have a different ad than what's shown in this link. No PS4 games are listed on the site's ad. They don't have any of the PS4 games marked on the page as part of the sale. That's disappointing if they leaked the wrong ad.
We missed the Amazon sale because my work decided to discourage shopping on lunch apparently. Target now has the rest of the PS4 games listed but most are unavailable online.
Went to the Sony store for the pre-pre-order thing you had to do, which really only turned out to be them checking your name on their list and forcing a wristband on you. I do not like that part. I don't want to wear a wristband for the next 30 some hours! I really should've thought about a minute and just came back tomorrow. At any rate, they're super concerned about people sneaking in line or somehow otherwise ending up for pre-orders, but also telling people they can get right back in line to buy another one if they'd like (as long as you have another form of payment.) It's mixed.
This store is an outdoor mall. It's going to be below freezing out there. I'm currently fighting a losing battle against a cold. I'm probably still going to stand out there around 11:45. This whole thing is among my dumbest ideas ever, internet friends, and that covers a lot of dumb ground.
ACTUAL IMPORTANT PART: The PS4 1.5 software update is up. That there is a direct link to the file. You can always download it on the system - but only if their servers don't get swamped tomorrow, so it might be handy just to get it now.
It'll show up at my office Friday. The receptionist will send me an e-mail that says (in all caps) YOU HAVE A LARGE PACKAGE and I'll reply "Thanks, but did UPS bring me anything?" And by the time I get to the reception area, she'll be laughing and laughing...

(Seriously. That's EXACTLY how it will go.)
At least she'll both get it and laugh, AND you'll have a PS4!
Where did you order yours from? I have been stalking my order on GameStop, but no shipping confirmation yet. I may need to call them because I have a pending charge from them for this order that is $30 more than what they should be charging me. I don't want it to delay the shipment, but I don't want to pay more than what I'm supposed to owe. Guess it's time to sit on hold for 45 minutes tomorrow.
This Target sale is killing me too. I was going to get Killzone, Knack, and Just Dance, but my boyfriend is more excited about 1886, Final Fantasy XV, and Wolfenstein:The New Order, all of which are due out by the end of 2013. Nothing much for PS4 Black Friday deals either, but if you're looking for PS3 games, it's going to be nice.
Hey, it's today. I wanted to take a nap today so I could stay up long tonight, but life got in the way. My cold is doing better today though.
(TBH, I don't know EXACTLY when I decided to use this site as my livejournal.)
There were reports of PS4's failing out of the box. Sony says it is "0.4% of systems", which pretty much sounds like the amount you'd expect under normal conditions. Hope it's not yours but it's not something I'm worried about.
Trine 2 has been pushed up to launch day. Not sure if it's a Sony pushing people to hurry up to balance out the missing titles, or if there's more money in being their when people need something to play.
The Spike PS4 Launch special is in 3 hours. They're teasing the release date for inFamous among other things. I'm going to guess they'll also run a teaser for a game you might normally not hear about until E3 - maybe not UnchartedPS4, but something on that level - just to get people excited. If it's just watching people in New York in line, it'd be lame (and they probably don't want it lame if they're coming back in 2 weeks to do this with XBox One.)
- Last of Us: DLC - which they already announced and teased - very minimal teaser of Uncharted 4. No date, not a shot of Nathan and they wouldn't confirm he was in it. You could probably figure out the quest he's on if you paid attention, I did not. Basically, all you know is they are making an Uncharted game on PS4 (which you probably already knew.) - Uncharted trailer featured a cover of "Heart-Shaped Box" and a release date of 03/21/2014 - They experimenting with using eye tracking with the camera to move the screen. - Towerfall Ascenion (well reviewed retrogame previously only on the Ouya, going to PS4 and Steam when it's exclusivity runs out next quarter.) - Destiny beta will be available on PS4/PS3 first. No date announced. - exclusive DLC for Metal Gear Solid - retro Playstation mode.
They also gave out the "first PS4 in the world", except for all the others people got earlier today. EXCITING. This was an hour you were very okay reading about later.
My wristband says 10. I'm guessing 25 people in line because it's cold (though there were plenty of people in lines at the event in New York and the other one in LA they showed briefly.)
Got my PS4. The line for preorders couldn't have been more than 15 people long (though it did look like they had 70 some names on the list they were checking.) The line for non-preorders seemed about 60 people long. They seemed to have a lot of PS4's ready to go, but not sure how many were going to the people who didn't preorder.
The power button is very subtle. It literally does not stick out at all, I had to look at the manual to find it. There's no power switch on the back either - they'd really prefer you left it on in low power mode at all times and are subtly pushing you that way.
Updating the software was no problem! Downloading Knack was a problem. The play as you download/install feature was sure not working for me last night, which may be because of the (predictable) server issues. You're better off buying a disc or finding something else to do for a couple hours.
It did work (mostly) fine when I tried it briefly this morning. Knack seems okay, but just that much.
My bf is loving Battlefield 4; we are getting the premium version now too, and he downloaded a few of the free games last night. The controller is way more comfortable for those of us (me) with smaller hands, too. No issues so far with gameplay or server connection.
