Just wondering if anybody might be able to help with some issues I've been having recently with my 360.
Firstly, my controllers don't seem to work anymore when I try to play DVDs in the system. The DVD will boot up and the controller is on, but none of the buttons do anything. I can't move through the menus or start the movie or even hit the menu button to go back to the desktop. I have to turn the system off completely. This sucks for me because my regular DVD player is pretty shitty and the Xbox has, until this point, been working fine and the picture comes through better than on the DVD player.
Also, my Live Cam isn't working either. It's plugged in, but when I turn on the system, the camera doesn't turn on and it's not found. I don't know what's going on with that, either. It was working fine and then all of a sudden just stopped turning on. Any ideas there?
Another problem popping up lately is that when the system starts up, the controllers aren't being read, even if I started the system using the Xbox button on the controller itself. The system does start, but the controller continues to blink trying to make the connection to the system. If I turn off the system and start it again, most of the time the controller works. It's been rare, but it sometimes takes more than 2 reboots of the system.
I just bought the system in November. Should I take it back or are there some common things that I may just be missing here?
If you can return it to the store, do so. Never troubleshoot bad hardware during the return period
Ok, so do some BASIC troubleshooting, but not much more than that.
Does it work if you unplug everything from the Xbox but one controller? Have you tried different controller ports?
Are all of your Xbox360 peripherals first party or do you have any questionable stuff?
Is there anything locked to the console ID (saved games, I dunno, help me out here) that would keep you from wanting to return it? For example, the Wii Shop stuff is tied to your console, you have to rebuy it all if you have a hardware failure.
I have two wireless controllers and none that plug in to the system. I don't have a memory card, so all my game saves are on the hard drive. And all my cables and plugs are directly from the box the system came in.
I'm thinking of taking it back to where I got it and have somebody there try turning it on to see what happens and if they can troubleshoot it. Hopefully I won't have to lose all the stuff on my hard drive.

I don't own an Xbox 360, so forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question...
...but is there a way to network to the system from a home computer to backup the saved games, settings, and such? I mean, it'd be a pain to lose your statistics and game progress. Not to mention, getting the Live service up and running again with your avatars or what have you.
I've seen ONE movie so far this year: Borat - (5*)
There is a way to network to a Windows based system. I don't know if it's possible to port your hard drive saves from the Xbox to a PC, but I know you can go from PC to the Xbox. However, it's a moot point because I don't have a PC, just a Mac
You can put your saves onto a USB drive, or an XBox 360 memory card, or I've heard that you can also hook up an external USB hard drive too. Plenty of options for keeping saves, though I don't know about downloaded content. It's tied to your Live name so one would hope they can help out there, but you'll have to ask them.
The only time I've seen people having trouble with devices not connecting properly is when they were using the initial batches of the bluetooth headset. If you don't have one, then don't worry about that.
Like was said, just return it. Clearly it's not working right and there is little you can do to troubleshoot it. Maybe call Microsoft on the phone for help but I doubt they can do much for you that way.
