PWTorch.com newsbit: Campaign begins to save Smackdown from cancellation

http://www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/article_1837.shtml

Oddly, the proponents of the website said that TNN can go ahead and cancel Raw if they feel like it. Ba-dum-CHING.

Seriously, Smackdown's the highest-rated show on UPN, I'll be surprised if the contract isn't renewed.

It's really up to CBS/Viacom if it is or not. If they think ratings have tanked enough to the point that it isn't worth it, they'll either cancel it or move it to MTV or something.

They won't cancel their #1 rated show but WWE won't get the same kind of deal they got last time.

Yah, but IS Smackdown still UPN's #1-rated show? I'd thought it had fallen behind Buffy and Enterprise, what with the general downturn of the business.

Nah, Enterprise dropped off in a big way. Buffy beat it once or twice when Smackdown was at its lowest before they gave it to Heyman.

We get these "save show XXXX" things every year or so. Smackdown should be fine, we'll all get our SD6 fix for a good long time.

Top shows thus far for the UPN Season:
Rankings in parenthesis

WWE Smackdown! (86)
Enterprise (93)
One on One (91)
Girlfriends (92)
Buffy (98)
The Parkers (101)

So Smackdown is safely their highest rated show, ecspecially impressive since it resides in the toughest time slot of the week. However, UPN is really in the doghouse as a whole, so its always possible that in an effort to bolster their image they could scuttle all their line-up and start fresh.

For some reason being #86 is not something to really be proud of. But, at least we'll have the inside joke if they 86 the show.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Sure #86 is something to be proud of. For a wrestling show that competes with Friends and Survivor and the rest of the Thursday shows, plus not being on network tv and being shown to fewer households, they're doing pretty good with it.

What do you want? For it to be beating out Law and Order and C.S.I. every week?

Marvez is the worst source in the world. Also in his tweet was that Graham was the one in the squeegee fight with Sid. That was Pillman I never liked Graham because a 5'7" guy making a run in / comeback was foul. But God rest his soul FLEA
