What a joke.

“I’m not too scared,” Vandas told CBC News Online the day before she left. “I think it will be a powerful experience.”

Yeh. Powerful like a daisy cutter dropped in your lap.
They call themselves human shields. I call them human targets. To the USAF and Navy aviators I say: "Bombs AWAY!"

My Lord this is funny. Yeah maybe they should go over there for awhile and see how fun it is to live under a murderous dictatorship.

I hope they get up a good round of anti-war hippie music before the Hellfire missle tears them apart.

Well, if they're from Vancouver, as the article indicates, then they're most likely drugged-out hippie freaks.

DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:

"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"

Just my opinion, of course, but I found this story to be quite inspiring. As the article said, "There’s plenty of evidence of a global grassroots sentiment opposing war", and I feel it's a sentiment too strong to ignore. In fact, I have been so inspired that I have decided that I too shall serve as a human shield. Yes, I feel my course of action is clear. I am prepared to risk my own life by standing with people who live each day as potential victims of indiscriminate bombing. I will live among these people. I will walk the streets of their cities. I will position myself at important public facilities, such as water plants and hospitals, in an effort to protect these against the bombs.

I feel quite confident that my actions will dissuade those with evil intent from needlessly destroying human life. However, unlike Irene Vandas and Jennifer Ziemann, I will be serving as a human shield inside the United States. Yes, I shall reside in the USA as part of the new anti-war movement, zeroing in on the fear that any terrorist campaign against the United States would imperil the lives of hundreds of thousands of American civilians.

I realize mainstream media so far haven’t made much of the anti-war movement building against another terrorist attack against the United States. But hopefully our actions will deliver a message that terrorist groups should stay out of any war in the USA. “Why are these groups so unwilling to try diplomacy?” I've often asked myself.
Still, knowing the high regard terrorists have for the sanctity of human life, I am convinced that by becoming a human shield I and others of like-mind will dissuade terrorist-led forces from attacking the innocent civilians of this great country and bring about peace in our lifetime.

No kidding. I love how the tree-huggers of the world unite in a show of anti-war solidarity when the US is about to attack someone-
of course, any and all attacks on the US (and Isreal for that matter) are mourned for only a few days, then it is back to "Evil US-as-usual...."

YOu know, I can understand why Europeans have a knee-jerk anti-war attitude. If my continent couldn't seem to keep itself from self-destruction, I too would probably now react "war=always bad." They've now had 50 years of peace and prospertity instead of firebombings, genocide, and sacrificing millions of live for about 3 feet of land, as a result of finally learning that war is not always the best way to get what you want. So I can forgive them for swinging so hard the other way.

But Canucks? They have no excuse.

Pool-Boy by now you should know that the only evil that really matters in the world is the U.S. then Isreal's. The 100,000's of thousands of people who die in Africa that are killed by Moslems who rape and sell the rest into slavery don't count. First because that aren't white (amazing how racist the media is) and second aren't killed by either of the two evil countries listed above.

Nothing better than a bunch of conservatives telling liberals what they think.

And maybe you'd recall that we're the ones saying that Bush needs to get over his hard-on for Saddam and spend some real effort tracking down the people who were responsible for the attacks on the World Trade Center. I don't mean bombing a few villiages in some third world country and saying "That mighta got him" and calling it a day. I mean sending in secret operatives, Navy SEALs, whatever it takes.

I mean, I know Bush has super double secret evidence that Saddam is building Weapons Of Mass Destruction, but he just can't show it to anyone but that's no reason not to trust him, no sir, but could we please fight one fucking war at a time.

Saddam Hussien is a evil fuck. The world would be better off without him. But the world would be MUCH better off without Al Quida, they're the ones who killed 1,000s of American civilians last fall, and they're the ones we should be focusing all our energies on dealing with right now.

I love how the environment-rapers of the world unite"when the US is about to attack someone- of course, any and all attacks on the US (and Isreal for that matter) are mourned for only a few days, then it is back to oil as usual...

And as far as these Canadians go, it's a stupid fucking idea, and if they honestly think that Bush would avert his war in Iraq to spare the lives of a few cilivians (and FOREIGNERS to boot), mustn't be paying attention. (I mean, this country bombed fucking HOSPITALS a few years ago, so do you really think a few Canucks singing protest songs would stop us?) Still, it would nice to see people in this country caring that much about anything that isn't a sporting event sometime.

(Oh, and, yes, the hospitals WERE bombed under the Clinton administration. See, I didn't really like Clinton all that much either. Oh sure, I appriciated him greatly once he was gone, but some of us actually form our opinions based on actual facts as opposed to knee-jerkingly supporting our party no matter what actions they perform. I swear, Dick Cheney could rape a retarded nun, and this board would be awash in posts like "Oh, I forgot all liberals are PERFECT" and "Saddam Hussein can gas his own people and suddenly the Vice President is evil because he rapes ONE nun, or so sayeth the LIBERAL MEDIA". And then Grimis would post a link theorized that Lyndon B. Johnson raped several nuns during his adminstration.)

Don't believe me? Go up a few threads and watch people defend Steve Austin beating the living fuck out of his 98-pound wife.

Fuzzy- I do not mean to sound crass, but you really are full of hate. Seriously-
I mean, 1- Liberals have been telling Conservatives for YEARS what we supposedly think. We are all hateful racists who want to burn the Earth to a crisp.
2- This oil argument is getting OLD. I mean, When Bush Sr. went into Iraq, the liberals SCREAMED about how it was for oil. What happened to oil prices? THEY PLUMMETED. "Big Oil" as you call it did not make a red cent off of the Gulf War. Of course, when Clinton started rattling the sabre to go into Iraq... there were NO oil arguments. It was OH NO! Sadaam has the weapons... we have to fight him! Now Bush Jr. is in office, and it is indeed oil politics as usual... only is is the Demos that are espousing it.
3- How much proof do you need presented that he has the weapons... honestly? I mean, do you want a personal email? Would you even bother to read it? The fact is, you do not WANT a Republican to be right, because your world would crumble around you.
I can't decide if you have been brainwashed, are impossibly stupid, or just incredibly full of hate, but I, for one, am getting plain sick and tired of being villified because I don't go out and fuck redwoods on the weekend. You hate Bush? FINE. You want to bash him, or any other Republican? Come out with something solid, instead of your broad-brushed accusations that are burned into your brain by big-Democrat media. The Oil thing and Environment killing is getting old... and more and more holes pop into the accusation everytime it is used. Yes, I have taken my fare share of digs at Democrats, but they have always been for DOCUMENTED and very specific things.
Enough with the hate-mongering. I wholeheartedly accept debate. But the definition of debate is, at its core, an open exchange of ideas, with two parties with firm ideals and relatively open minds. I can't recall the last such exchange I have ever had with a liberal, and you are certainly not helping your cause. The whole strategy of baseless accusations and evil intents really does not help ONE WHIT.
I think it is clear to the lamest of MORONS that Iraq has, and is developing weapons of mass distruction. Hell, THEY HAVE USED THEM ON THEIR OWN PEOPLE! It is CLEAR that they support Al Quaida. Hell, don't you HEAR the love fest in the press released between Iraq and Al Quaida? ARE YOU DEAF? And I suppose all of the proof that has been presented is meaningless because it comes from a Republican White House... Again, skeptisicm is fine, but you are not expressing that- rather outright dismissal because you do not happen to agree with the principles of the man presenting the evidence. Frankly, that is bullshit.
Why is it so "good" for a liberal to love and support the people who HATE us when a Conservative suggests, and is in the power to put in motion, we do something about it? We can't ATTACK Al Quaida- we have to UNDERSTAND them! We can't attack Saddaam... I mean, I know he has killed thousands of his own people. bankrolls terrorists, has declared openly that he wants to push Israel into the Sea, and openly and repeatedly declared he longs for our destruction.. Oh, and we musn't forget the mandatory dancing in the streets of Baghdad after 9-11 he ordered, but really, Bush is only after oil!
You would think Bush flew the planes into the Trade Center himself with your attitude, and quite frankly- it disgusts me. If you are going to disagree... please, do so constructively! If not.. at least put a "Flame" warning at the beginning of your posts.

One final note... NO SHIT, of course they are using secret operatives to fight Al Quaida. Yeah.. the key word there is SECRET. Do you honestly think we would HEAR about it this soon? Please! I was surprised as hell we heard about the Al Quaida black street-smudge out lovely drone plane made! You can bet there is a lot of that sort of thing going on.

Knowing the stories about his sex life, you can probably find them.

There is nothing I have to say here that hasn't been said already. If people want to be human shields, I say hey, go for it. I have no problem with seekin suicide as an answer.

You forgot the part where Pool-Boy says "all you liberals can do is talk about how mean and demonic conservatives are. Well just because I don't think the GOVERNMENT has to STEAL MY MONEY to support a shelter for raped retarted nuns doesn't mean I'm a heartless bastard like you LIBERALS ALWAYS make out conservatives to be when we start making sense."
