Oh...the only threat Canada poses to the US is their inability to refuse asylum to any terrorist that happens in. Considering the 3000 mile undefended border that we have, we could use the help keeping the derilicts out.
Parliament, you can have free votes and you can have members of Parliament ... actually break with your party. In Canada, you cannot break with your party. It's a total party rule."
Sounds like Albany.
I was cool with the article until the last line "you know what happened the last tim eyou invaded us." Did you know that in Canada, they teach schoolchildren that Canada defeated the U.S. in the war of 1812? Despite the fact that Canada wasn't a country yet? Talk about an inferiority complex.

Crossfire was hilarious in the early 90's with Buchanan and Kinglsey. At that time, it was a novel show. Now, there are tons of similar shows. Now, the show is only a shell of its former self. Begala's annoying, Tucker Carlson is a whining crybaby, and Carville is entertaining for short doses, but not for a whole hour. The only salvageable part of the show is Bob Novak. They should have let the show die before they decided on the idea to move it into GW university in front of a live studio audience.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
I've seen that audience(went to grad school in the MPA Building, where they film it) and that's a strange bunch. Of course, one time Bob Novak almost spilled coffee on me in the hallway. Another time, I saw this bright light coming out of an office doroway. It was Carville's head, it was so shiny. I wish I was making this up...
Canada won a war when not being on the same side as the US? When?
A short history of the War of 1812 according to Canada:
The United States invaded Canada. Canada drove out the U.S. and burned down Washington. Canada wins the war of 1812.
I won't even bother pointing out all the problems with this. I think pointing out that Canada wasn't a country in 1812 pretty much takes care of most of this.

And I thought U.S. schools history classes were bad.
Oh, that is not all that uncommon. In Mexico, they teach their students that Mexico WON the Mexican/American war as well. Oh, the land we got? They just sold it to us. No big whoop...

That's ok. In the U.S., this war is presented as an attempt by the U.S. to defend its borders against Mexican aggression. A land grab? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. The whole thing was completely instigated by Mexico and the U.S. was just defending herself.
Since when can't members of Canadian parliament break from their party during votes in the House of Commons? Back benchers often vote differently from what the party leadership pushes. The whole leadership race with Paul Martin is pushing this issue even further, as there is some dissension between Martin supporters and Chretien supporters.
So long as a bill introduced by the PM's party isn't defeated, everything will be fine for members of the government.
Comparing Canada to Saudi Arabia or any other archaic monarchy is a joke. I don't like Jean Chretien or the Liberal party, but do I see these right wing Americans grilling the hundreds of figures in American popular culture (who probably have more influence on the opinions of the general population than most *AMERICAN* politicians, nevermind a Canadian), who call George Bush a lot of names, often worse than "moron"?
How quickly these idiots forget the help they were provided with from Canada on Sept. 11. The planes diverted to Newfoundland, where Americans were treated like royalty. Our military is a joke, but we were there when the operations on Afghanistan commenced. Chretien has now committed Canadian troops to a potential war on Iraq.
I think that these Americans would do themselves more good by focusing on oh, I don't know, the countries and people who are trying to kill them. Not their largest trading partner and one of their closest allies.
If that douchebag in the bowtie was in on this, I think it speaks volumes for the quality of opinion presented on this show.
Wrestling has been rhyming with ass. I miss shows and it makes me all shades of ambivalence. WWE is starting to suck again. The crops? Jeezum Spice! Someone stole my crops. What in the ham fat is going on. That's just poo-doo! That's just my 2.4856 Yen.

And yes, it is true about their inferiority complex :)
Utilizing the belief system and work ethic (Mattributes) of THE Matt Hardy to create a better life for yourself by fulfilling your goals and dreams. Mattitude is a quality that can help anyone -- regardless of background or past -- to achieve success. You just have to make it a lifestyle, a mindset, a religion. Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives me an advantage over everyone else.

My point is that you can find some group that will believe what they want, but it will hardly represent mainstream academic thought (or actual reality). And, as someone who has spent extensive time in both countries (but was educated in the U.S.), I can safely say that the mistaken American idea that Mexico started the war (or was equally culpable) is far more prevalent than the mistaken Mexican idea that they did not 'lose' the war. However, the U.S. DID compensate Mexico for the territory they annexed after the war...hmmm I don't recall other countries being compensated for territory lost after an unsuccessful war..that does make for evidence supporting some fine revisionist history, you have to admit.

This is a column from Thomas Sowell, a researcher up at Stanford. He brings up some really important facts that ought to be considered before you deem Bush's tax cuts unfair. If you read this with an open mind, you might come away learning something.
