From the desk of Swordsman Yen
No, folks, it isn't a joke. Bol to join CHL's Indianapolis Ice. No word if he's going to play or be used as a hockey stick.

Cowboys 3-6-0. Startup QB on struggling football team seeking offensive line to add years to my life. Blocking skills preferred.

Spurs 2-1. Shouldn't have lost to Golden State, but still a good start.

Sounds like the biggest publicity stunt since Manon Rheaume.

Ironically enough, I covered Manon's first pro game, which was in Indianapolis, as she was playing for the team against the Ice (it was Tampa's farm team, whoever that was at the time).

Man, was she pretty up close. I almost asked my questions in French, but I chickened out.

I read about it "going to happen".

Did it? Was there any follow-up article?

It did happen, on Saturday night. Unfortunately Manute's feet didn't fit his size 16 1/2 skates too well so he didn't play a shift, but he did skate in the pre-game warm up (think new born giraffe) and he sat on the bench throughout the game.

according to tuesday's washington post, he buggered off back home, so apparently he quit...

Wrestling has been rhyming with ass. I miss shows and it makes me all shades of ambivalence. WWE is starting to suck again. The crops?

It was all a publicity stunt in order to raise awareness for his charity. It was never expected to last more than one game.

This is an insult to hockey, as far as I'm concerned. Pretty rediculous. You KNEW the guy wasn't going to play. It was rediculous, pointless, and people who bought tickets to see him should feel ripped off and get their money back. Utter crap.

But yet, nobody has a problem with him fighting "The Fridge" on Celebrity Boxing? He will do anything for money to free his people in Sudan from a Taliban-like rule. That's where all of his money playing basketball went. So at least it's for a noble cause. Besides, we all knew he was just going to play in practice. Plus, minor league hockey does anything for ticket sales. A local Ft. Worth team had a "Triple H night" and a night where they sold the whole entire arena out to a local private school both in the same month. They need crazy gimmicks to stay afloat

The Rangers with their first pick took a kid from my old high school archrival. I will never cheer for him. I will take a used bag of practice pucks and left-handed KOHO for him right now.
