(Jul 12) tsn.ca - Fan favourite Tie Domi is expected to announce his intention to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.
TSN has learned that Domi has agreed to a three year deal with the Maple Leafs, worth $2 million per season. That represents a slight raise for Domi, who scored nine goals and 19 points last season. He also had 157 penalty minutes.
YES!
And I get to say "nyahh nyahh" to Loosie, who thought he was gone. But who cares. DOMI STAYS. They HAD to sign him - fans would have CRUCIFIED management if they let him AND Cujo go.
*sigh* I really wish people would stop calling Domi a goon, 'cause he really isn't. But something tells me that trying to argue this point would only prove futile, so I won't bother.
That being said, I feel that the word goon is tossed around an awful lot these days. Ti Domi is not a goon. He is, however a big physical player. There are lots of guys like that. The trouble is, when you're a big, physical player, and you hit people, people start wanting to fight you. And then, boy do the penalty minutes add up.
My definition of a goon is someone with not enough hockey sense to avoid making bad physical contact. By that I mean intentionally injuring an opponent. Domi's managed to avoid doing that except for one occasiona, and something which, for one, was blown way out of proportion, and two, which Domi probably didn't mean to do with the effect it had.
Lets leave the label of goon to those who really deserve it. Anyone seen Marty McSorely anywhere?
EDIT: We all know that computer hockey games don't tell you shit about the actual players. After all, if I can win a season with Columbus, how realistic can it be?
(edited by chazerizer on 29.7.02 0935) "Sales of penis-enlargement treatments and devices in 2000 totaled in excess of $600 million," Skolnick said. "Cock-lengthening is, no pun intended, a consistent growth industry in the U.S., and this bill would severely emasculate it. As usual, it's the little guy who suffers."
I also went 6-2 (Stupid Devils! Stupid Stars!) Picking the winners: Lightning/Canadians: I would love to say Montreal, but I think that Tampa will have better odds at solving Theodore than Boston did. Still, it's going to be close games. Tampa in 6....
