They're growing. They continue to gain credibility against a juggernaut that's been exclusively dominating the industry for decades. And this is in just a bit over 2 years, starting from nothin'. It's important that they do some bragging that people are watching their product! Jericho's an employee bragging about a company that he's totally behind & is proud of -- I'd be thrilled to have the self-promotion machine Jericho getting behind my business! (That's business, babe! :-) )
Now if you're specifically talking about what the dirt sheets & non-employees do with ratings info, that's a separate issue. Content of that would generally just be noise. Although ... buzz is buzz.

If Chris is bragging about AEW's ratings in interviews or on Twitter, that makes perfect sense, but it's weird to me to make TV ratings such a big deal in-character. You don't hear, say, Terry Bradshaw bragging on-air about how well the NFL on Fox pregame show does in the ratings.
And do fans really care that much about segment-by-segment breakdowns of every hour of RAW as much as PWTorch does? It just seems like an aspect of wrestling fandom/journalism that's taken overly intensely (especially in the era of On Demand, YouTube, etc etc).
DolphDrew Jericho Tracker and I bought the PPV last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We bought it off FITE as it seems our smart TV no longer has the B/R app. He was three the last time Punk had a match, but he knew him from the WWE app. He's eleven now, and he loves the Bucks, Darby, and Kingston.
I was most taken with Murder Luchadore Penta gathering his family for ringside hugs.

Bought it on FITE. Have bought all AEW PPVs, either splitting with a friend or just by myself if COVID or other commitments required. Will get all of them for the foreseeable future and would be going to Full Gear if COVID didn't make international travel unwise.
