I'm on Social Security disability so I don't have to worry about working from home or working outside the home and exposing myself to potential carriers. We've been staying home most of the time, only going out every few days or so for food and supplies.

Church services have been postponed until further notice, including all the Wednesday Community Lenten Services in our town. My last big gathering was last Thursday's choir practice. I'd be very surprised if we were open before Easter.

All of the free concerts and events that I was planning to go to in the immediate future have been canceled or postponed. I'm going to postpone some doctor's office visits, too, including the twice-monthly counseling visits I've been doing. Or maybe we can do it by phone. I tried to contact them today but there was nobody at the office; that's ominous.

I'm trying to stay inside as much as possible, going between my place and my girlfriend's. My one escape was going to the gym at my apartment complex but that closed today.

Schools here are closed until at least April 15th. We're being trained to present our curriculum to students online beginning March 30th. I'm not sure how we're going to hold the students accountable for actually logging on and checking the program, but that's a bridge we'll cross when we get there I guess.

I'm working from home. Thankful to have a job I can do from home and to work for a company that's about as stable as can be given the circumstances.

To offset some of the challenges, I'm trying to enjoy the benefits of working from home. I can sleep later, there's no commute, the dress code is lax, the coffee's better, and my cat got to make a cameo in a video conference today. Not bad.

I'm a little worried about what's going to happen with my wife's job. But we can weather this longer than lots of other people can.

I have a trip planned in April. I'm assuming that will get cancelled before I have a chance to cancel it myself. Probably not a good time to go visit a 91-year-old.

No concert reviews coming anytime soon, obviously. Glass Tiger and Matthew Good cancelled; Alice Cooper postponed. Next up is Joel Plaskett in May. We'll see. Maybe I'll watch and review some livestreamed concert if I feel the itch.

I still get outside at least once a day, if only to spin a few PokéStops. Tomorrow's excursion is to buy cat food. Friday is a grocery run.

Be safe, all.

It is all hands on deck in healthcare. I drive from home to work (six miles) and stay in the building all day. We do home health visits where our nurses and therapists visit patients in their homes. We are experiencing lots of patients that don't want us to come into their homes, as well as many clinicians who are wary of going from house to house as well. It takes up all of my time (and I in finance in the middle of budget season, which is totally screwed right now).

Two of my three daughters work in healthcare, so they are both still working. My wife takes care of grandchildren while our oldest daughter works. My youngest daughter is in college, or was going to college. She is finishing her semester online and they are not opening the college until the fall. I work in the waste industry doing accounting work and they haven't forced us to work at home yet. My oldest daughter's husband may not have any work after today. We are stocked up on toilet paper and other essentials but stores around us are pretty barren. Our biggest worry is my mother in law who has a laundry list of medical issues. Fortunately, she lives in a very rural area and is not very social.

I work in an environmental laboratory -- not clinical testing -- we test drinking water, for example, for regulatory requirements. Nothing has really changed other than following spacing guidelines to the best of our abilities.

I was texting with a friend how I've never run into an issue of going grocery shopping and NOT being able to buy what I am looking for. I likened it to hurricane prep. She said 'or snowstorm prep down here in the south'.

Church is done for the foreseeable future, as are my bowling leagues. I'll get take out from the bowling alley for the next few weeks on Mondays and Thursdays since I'm not bowling, but would like to support them as much as I can (without gaining too much weight).

The workout facility at my apartment complex has closed, so I can't hit the treadmill. Walking outside is fine, as long as the weather cooperates. Thank heavens this isn't the dead of winter, as that would make exercise tougher. I'm impatiently waiting for a slight warmup so I can get back to kayaking on the local lakes and rivers.

The weird thing for me is that I was in Singapore when it first became a major thing there. The last couple weeks there I didn't leave the apartment except for a couple of dentist appointments and to go for walks. Mostly stayed in my room and we ordered a lot of food. The Lovely Mrs. Hegemon has some issues that make her susceptible and my mother-in-law is 80 so we didn't want to take any chances, and TLMH decided I should go back to my place in the US thinking it would be safer. Turns out, not so much, but at least I'm not putting them at risk.

I mostly work from home, anyway, so not much of a change there. I do teach test prep classes when I'm in the US--I actually started a new class Sunday night (only two students showed up, of the 5 originally signed up for the class) but they cancelled the class the next day, and I don't think I'll do any teaching so long as this goes on.

Only going out to shop for groceries (which I'm trying to limit)--hopefully I'll walk regularly when it gets warmer. Would normally be going to baseball card shows, and Beatlefest would have been next weekend, but of course those things aren't happening. And it's tough not having any sports. Also, my niece has her bat mitzvah scheduled for May 2, and while they haven't made the decision to cancel yet, they have arranged some backup dates and I'm guessing it will be the later of the backup dates, which is October.

I was supposed to be in Iceland this week. I was going to ride an Icelandic pony and I am very sad.

Instead, I am at work. I work in a clinical lab at a hospital, and things are really strange. Currently, we cannot do COVID testing in our lab, but we can collect them and then send them off to be tested elsewhere. Keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to do them in house next week. As a small rural hospital, we rank pretty low on test-getting priority. Many of the doctor's offices and clinics have closed and are only doing over the phone consulting, so the actual volume of work in the hospital is low, but everyone is there sitting and waiting for the shit to hit the fan. Mostly I do a lot of flu and pneumonia testing as sort of a rule-out for COVID. Who ever thought the day would come when I would hope fora positive flu.

Shutdown starts here on Tuesday. Be interesting to see what that ends up looking like. "Non-essential" is pretty vague. I'm expecting to be kept working throughout, albeit remotely. So I'm lucky. Plenty won't be. Government announced huge stimulus and national conference sitting tonight (Sunday) to try and stop the economy imploding. We have, sadly, way too many dickheads in this country.

I was supposed to be in Manhattan next week. Obviously I won't be. Strange times. I'll be fine. Very fortunate. Hope you and yours stay safe!

When I am in the states I almost always work from home. I have already had trips canceled until june. So I am becoming a zoom expert. Fortunately, I have a job. Otherwise I am staying home, getting out to walk. That is all.

I've been work at home for 8 years, so that hasn't affected me at all on that front.

However, we did have 2 trips, that would have included 3 concerts (Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters), a baseball game, and baby shower that have all been postponed.

My Gym closed last week, so I've had to get creative in finding ways to get my exercising in.

We had maybe two full weeks of school in 2020. Our state requires students attend 180 days of school each academic year, but they can do prepared work at home that will count for those days. I work from home and juggle that and his schoolwork. We've done that for all of DolphDrew Jericho Tracker's student life, and it's routine for us. Schools here are now closed until May 15, coincidentally the same day as the scheduled Friday Night SmackDown to take place locally. He got tickets for it at Christmas. I hope he can go to it.

We decided that we're going to treat our house as the HMS Surprise from Master and Commander: Far Side of the World. We three will come up with names, and we will huddle up Saturday to christen the house. And then we will run silent, run deep, and I've already confused the analogy.

This is a tourist town, and businesses are kinda closed. A lot of folks ignore the heavily suggested shutdown. We three are homebodies anyway, and we hermit up pretty well.

My department at work is primarily handling business phone systems, so yeah, we've been slammed the last two weeks with calls for people sending their employees home. It finally tapered off today but that helped me at least externalize my stress. Work sent us to work from home a week ago, which isn't really new because I did this before on snow days, but it's still a bit weird not leaving the house except for coffee.

My wife, on the other hand, well, her anxiety has been through the roof for various reasons. We had shows canceled, a trip to her best friend in a week and a half has been postponed. It's not great. I'm doing what I can but for her, there's not much I can do, she just needs to process her feelings herself.

Not quite 2 years ago, I bought a house, all of my very own. I'd previously had housemates, or a "living with" significant other. Although really, for most of my adult life, I've lived alone, one way or another. Evidently, I'm one of those "Kind of a loner. Always kept to herself." people. I'm pretty sure, if I were forcibly, continuously, cooped up with other people, it just would not be pretty.

As is, my god-dog & I are happily nustled in at My House. Nice yard, where I can garden at will. And where Miss God-dog can pee & poop at will, with utter disregard for availability of toilet paper. Weather is currently gorgeous (We all know that'll change soon - enjoy it while we got's it!!!), so we go walkies over at the mountain preserve daily -- maintaining appropriate social distancing, of course!!! My biggest regular dilemma is whether to support my local restaurants (Take-out cocktails is something we need always!), or to support my local meat/fish/vegFarmers, & cook at home.

One of my friends started a semi-regular Group FaceTime call among about 8-10 of us, meeting every 3-4 days, just to check in. BYO, naturally. That's actually a nice tether to the social world. (I'm thinking we might have to do a cook-along -- or at least "prep cocktails along" - one of these days.) I find that to be basically enough sociality to keep me from going over the Ted Kazinski cliff. :-)

(BTW, "cook along" reminds me, there's an Alton Brown "Quitchen Quarantine" (youtube.com), where he & his lovely wife Elizabath (& one or more of their cute doggies) fix dinner -- kind of a lovely "aren't married people cute" for us unmarrieds. :-) )

Soooo, for those of us who are fundamentally kinda social isolationist, introvert, INTJ, only-child, sensitive loners ...

There are times when I wish this site had a "Like" button. The above post is one such time.

I was born for "social distancing".

PS, I was able to find some TP at the shops this week!

I was ready to call bullshit on it except that no one will specifically deny it. "Reports are dubious" is a far cry from "we don't have him." May all be a big case of mistaken identity.
