What a fun movie! It's a bit of a shame it's rated PG-13, since it's mostly about kids and has a good message about family. The dark parts do get pretty dark, though. Zachary Levi does a great job as a kid trapped in an adult body. There's even a reference to Big.
I like how it takes place in a world where Superman and Batman exist, yet there's Superman and Batman merchandise. It also takes place in Philadelphia, which must be close to Gotham and Metropolis.
We almost left because of the scene in the Sivana boardroom. My guy was very bothered by it. The non-Sivana scenes were perfect. The casting, the tone, the emotions were all right and good. But they went too hard, and that made the first end-credit scene wonky because it didn't match what we saw from Sivana's scenes in the film.
I am a lifelong Shazam fan. I was very wee when the live TV show was on (with Mighty Isis too!), and I have waited for this movie for a long time. They got so much of it just right, and that makes the needlessly cruel scenes more jarring.

In Winnipeg A-channel is a joke because they use so many high school kids as shooters. They actually get ratings so low for their morning show that it doesn't even qualify as registering as a point, so it comes out as zero. Somehow that's possible.
