The news broke on Monday that Mark Hollis, who essentially disappeared from the music scene over 20 years ago, passed away.
Hollis was IMMENSELY influential on me and his solo album combined with the five albums released by his band Talk Talk are such an impressive body of work - and yet I wished there had been more, and always hoped there would be more. But there will be no more.
Tonight I'm devoting a four hour show on KFAI to Mark Hollis, Talk Talk, and the many projects by Hollis and the other members of Talk Talk. Live at 2am-6am and available for streaming for two weeks after at kfai.org.
Thanks. This show got way more attention than I'd planned, but it's been overwhemingly positive. If you'd like to check out the playlist and stream it yourself, the show archive page is over at https://www.kfai.org/episode/03-01-2019-across-the-board/ .
