Right now, it looks like

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon vs Ronda Rousey & a partner (perhaps Kurt Angle)

Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar (c) for the RAW championship

Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles (c) for the SmackDown championship
- assuming AJ wins at Fast Lane, which seems a safe assumption

Alexa Bliss vs Asuka for the RAW Women's Title

John Cena vs Undertaker?

---

I am totally out of step with the wrestling world to not be excited about this? I don't want to be a negative person towards people who are looking forward to this show and even think those matches will be good or they'll use every trick to make them good. I also know I had a chance to experience this show in person and decided not to do that and I'm feeling relieved about making that choice now. WrestleMania is about the moments, as has been said once or twice or five million times, and I just don't care about any of these moments - they make logical and/or business sense but they don't really move me.

They did leave an opening for Braun Strowman to Daniel Bryan his way into the Lesnar/Reigns match, should the fans totally reject it. But they also have done so much with Strowman that his ascension to the championship is obviously the big story and Reigns/Lesnar is something they're doing just because they long ago committed to do it.

They are hyped concerned about Rousey getting rejected by the fans as a celebrity wrestling tourist, which is probably one of the many reasons she's facing the McMahons. It's also a match that shouldn't go half as long as the entrances if they're doing the UFC Rousey, but that doesn't sound like a match Triple H actually does at WM.

I guess they have to have Carmella cash in some point soon to actually set up a women's title match on the blue side?

Styles/Nakamura is their only hope. This card is three to five years too late for anyone to get excited about. Alexa/Asuka needs to be 30 seconds tops. Braun/Miz should be another squash match. Sasha/Bayley deserve better than being in the pre-show. Rollins, Finn and most of the Raw team seems to be out in the cold.

Snmackdown should line up better with Charlotte/Becky. Owens/Sammi should be a thing. As well as the tag teams. Again, nothing to get excited about.

I loved Reigns vs Lesnar 1 so I have no problem doing that match again and completing the story, however bumpy it’s been.

Are we sure it won’t be Asuka vs Charlotte and Jax vs Bliss?

They have made John Cena so vulnerable now the only thing I can seen them doing is Cena vs Taker, oldman gunslinger match that they should have done years ago. It’s a weird tear down of Cena to get there.

Braun. I’m not sure where he fits. Making the main event a three way doesn’t feel right, so that’s probably what they’ll do, but there is also nobody else who seems like a legit threat. Maybe The Demon King Balor?

I like the card. I’m not sure what else people are going to want. There will be something for everyone, probably too much of everything when it is all said and done.

Well, if so, then last night's stip of Jax being added to the title match if she beat Asuka wouldn't make any sense, right? And they'd never book a match that didn't make sense!

In all seriousness, I'll agree that there's not necessarily a ton of sizzle to the card yet, but the matches announced so far seem like they'll at least be pretty good, which is a change from most recent Manias. After the Chamber, I think we also are getting some combination of Finn, Rollins, and Braun, and they sure set up Bayley/Banks, although for them to add a third, non-title women's match to the card would be kind of unprecedented for them.

In addition to the RAW stuff, there's also the finals of the Cruiserweight championship tournament, and everyone's who's been watching 205 is crossing their fingers that Neville makes a surprise appearance at Mania (seriously, does anybody know ANYTHING about that situation?). I have no idea where Owens/Zayn is actually going, but if they're not fighting each other by then, having them fight the Usos would be a killer match to add. And finally, Daniel Bryan hasn't been cleared to compete, but they've definitely been building to him vs. Shane, so that's gotta be something, right?

The last rumor I read was that Shane would be wrestling Zayn & Owens, though I have no idea if it's a triple threat or a handicap match.

Braun is supposedly going to be facing The Miz for the IC title.

I have a feeling all of the focus on Alexa being afraid of Asuka might be to set up a swerve where she challenges Charlotte, but I hope not. They should keep Asuka & Charlotte apart and build toward them main eventing next year's Mania. I don't suppose there's any chance of Asuka remaining undefeated for another year now that Rousey is in the picture, but maybe we'll get lucky and Steph will drop Rhonda on her head and put her on the shelf for the next year.

I thought the best idea was for Asuka to go to Smackdown and wrestle Charlotte too. Alexa/Nia makes the most sense, Bayley/Sasha makes the most sense and Asuka is the one with the ability to switch brands so Asuka/Charlotte makes sense.

But last night's booking was so weird. Nia loses the opportunity to be in the title match AND brutally attacks Asuka after the match. Surely they're not going to have Asuka leave, right? That'd be like her running away from Asuka. I guess Nia is going to wiggle her way into the title match even though she lost the stipulation? So that leaves Charlotte without an opponent? So they're just going to throw her in a match with one of the other Smackdown women they haven't done anything with in 6 months? Seems like a pretty big oversight to not have anything for Charlotte to do.

Other than that, I agree that this WM card doesn't have much sizzle but could have good matches. I haven't heard people's opinions on Elimination Chamber yet but I thought it was really good. I think Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber were the best back-to-back PPVs in a while and honestly out of everything they are doing right now Smackdown is the only thing that isn't good.

Second to last match will be Stephanie vs. her oldest daughter for control of the WWE.

My promise to you, the viewer:

I will start caring about the company again if Cena comes out to the ring looking broken down, emotionally destroyed, physically worn, and just overall distraught about not having A Road To WrestleMania and cuts an impassioned but emotionally drained promo about this terrifying crossroads in his life, which will require him to make a drastic decision that he can never turn back from. Choked-up, at the end of his rope, desperate to gain a spot at the Showcase of the Immortals, Cena asks the fans to forgive him, looks into the camera to address the WWE Universe, and then...declares himself as the first entrant in this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

(The Character Roman Reigns sucks. I hate this show and other show and the people in charge. Imagine, FOUR consecutive WrestleMania main events to get back to the same place with the same guy getting the same lousy reaction. The company's de facto booking stance has become "bail on Hogan/Flair for Hogan/Slaughter" over and over and over again until the end of time.)

I swear I Googled "WrestleMania" and that's the number it gave me, because I can't possibly remember what number they're up to now.

It was also 1AM and I was waiting for my laundry to get done so maybe it was all a weird dream.

So far, it’s better than last year’s, though still not great.

As long as they don’t mess with AJ/Nakamura (SPOILER: They will.), I can tolerate this card. It has a little something for everybody.

Brock/Reigns doesn’t excite me and they won’t have the perfect storm they had at WM31. A lot of the heat from that show was based on “They won’t actually put the belt on Reigns, will they?” Plus, “Brock just re-signed, they won’t have him lose, will they?”

Both of those things have already happened since this event. Reigns is already a 3-time champion, Brock has lost to Goldberg soundly. It’ll mean more if Brock loses clean at Mania, of course, but there’s no real novelty here. It just seems like going through the motions to get Reigns the Universal Title now.

But I can tolerate it since we really need to get past the Brock thing and Reigns needs to sink or swim as champion (SPOILER: he’ll sink.) and WWE needs to take this shit already or get off the pot.

AJ/Nakamura could be a great babyface vs babyface match for the title. I don’t even care if it opens the show. Just let them do their thing and bring joy to the world. (I’m guessing they put Orton in there for a triple threat because they like to ruin things.)

The Rousey celeb fest is whatever. Again, another thing WWE just needs to do so they move past it.

Basically, this show is the resolution to WrestleMania 31, a show that basically ended with a “To be continued...” I wish they called this “WrestleMania 31 II: The Roman and Rousey Connection.”

Maybe if Stephanie gets her 15 minutes and Brock finally loses at Mania, we can actually get to something new.

EDIT: Oh, and Cena-Taker actively makes me mad because I thought I witnessed Taker’s actual retirement live last year and now him leaving the gloves in the ring is essentially meaningless.

Hopefully, it’s to at least let Taker go out on a high note, but it still seems like a match way past its prime and completely unnecessary aside from giving two main eventers something to do.

It is just strange that there is so much potential with the wrestlers they have but they are creating a card that a lot of people aren't going to be that interested in.

AJ and Nakamura can be great, but only people who have seen Nakamura outside of WWE are going to think that. If all you have seen of him is the last less than a year then I can't imagine you are going to think he is on AJs level apart from a great reaction to his tune. Give them time and please us.

Brock and Roman has been done and this isn't Rock and Austin having main events. Title needs to be off Brock, and hopefully off Roman soon after.

Rousey hitting Steph hard would be great if it keeps Steph off TV for as long as possible. A tag match with Kurt or whoever will drag as it will surely just be waiting until Ronda gets the tag in and destroys both of them, or signing her is pointless.

There are a lot of wrestlers who don't have anything set in stone at the moment - Brawn, Finn, Rollins, Owens, Zayn, Rusev, Miz, Cena to name a few. How many title matches are they going to have? 9 titles in total? It is going to be a long (way too long) card but there has to be a limit on matches. Maybe they will have the most star studded Andre battle royal to keep everyone happy. And have a Moolah/Young womans battle royal so they can all get on as well.

At the moment I am thinking that I will wake up here in the UK on the Monday morning and look at the results to see what I want to watch rather than take a day off work and watch 6 hours or so of wrestling that isn't catching my attention. Maybe things will change, and I really hope they do.

Here’s a question I’ve been dying to ask. Do you guys still think Nakamura is good? Is the general feeling the WWE has done a horrific job utiliy him?

I think he might have a couple of good matches in him and if anyone can get one out of him it is Styles, but I get the sense a lot of times that the majority of people think he is this amazing worker who should be getting the Roman push and I just don’t see it. I actually have more doubts about Styles/Nakamura being good than Roman/Brock. You definitely do the match, but are we sure Nakamura is still good?

excuse me but the established nomenclature for this thread title is "Rumored Wrestlemania Card Rumors." rumor has it that this year's matches are dumb.

nobody even booed when Reigns won. they just groaned. they can't even push him by having him win Royal Rumbles and stuff, they have to hide it by pretending he's not pushed hard and having him sneak over at the end of the Chamber and then get laid out. all this so TBD can kick out of an F5 to no pop. I am speculating their match won't even be at the level of their first one because it will be at the end of a 9-hour show and the crowd won't bother to give it atmosphere through an opposite reaction. at least even more TV time will be spent on Steph and Paul Fantasy Camp thirstily leeching off a celebrity.

Cena vs. Undertaker in the battle of broken down losers is not exactly the "streak vs. Supercena" nearfall gasps we were anticipating six years ago.

how will Nia Jax get a Raw women's title shot at Wrestlemania? she'll just win another match on Raw. it doesn't matter.

I really do hope it's a Shane and a partner (Daniel Bryan...............'s good friend Randy Orton) vs. Zayn and Owens because it would be a malignant act of negligence to break them up so soon, and Shane getting his sonuppance revenge would actually be a logical progression.

Usos vs. the Basham Brothers has been preserved all the way to Mania but shouldn't it really be Woken Hardys vs. The Wyatt Family in one of those taped matches with the creativity. I mean of course not because this is where joy goes to die (but not before receiving a Warrior Award for its terminal disease).

since Ambrose got hurt, Big Cass lays out Reigns at the end of the post-WM Raw to set up his next great challenge lololol. oh wait no, Reigns gets speared by Bobby Lashley.

I don't even think it will get that much of a pop as it will be expected. It will get the usual 'oohh' reaction, and the second will get a bit more and by the third people will be glad it's over.

They like to have the RAW after Mania end with the next challenger walking out at 11:05 (I'll say Batista).

This Mania build feels like the recent Marvel comic events when we know the end result, but we have to pretend to be excited for the extended spectacle that gets us there.

Balor and his club should go after the IC and tag belts. Give those current champs good, short angles. Build up Balor Club in the absence of the SHIELD and the continued inertia of the Miztourage.

If Cena wants a true challenge for Mania, there's Braun. He's gonna get booed taking on Taker; he might as well put a new guy over instead of losing to man who retired just a year ago and already relinguished his Mania mojo twice.

I don't care about Rousey as a wrestler. Not yet. But who was the last woman to rough up Hunter? Chyna? Is Rousey too big for the women's division, also like Chyna? Does she go after midcard men's belts, also like Chyna? ["Stop saying Chyna." Look it's WEIRD to build her this way and then just have her squash Bayley and Carmella.]

It's such a weird card so far... and a lack of things beginning to shape up. We have AJ/Nakamura which will be fun. Brock vs Roman again is the boofest that will fill the end of the eight hour show to silence. Really it should be Braun wrecking Brock in thirty seconds (yes, he had a shot and lost months ago but this is 2018 WWE, nobody remembers that).

Instead Braun gets shifted to... Miz maybe? Miz is going out around that time for paternity leave, so maybe this is Braun's consolation crowning? Does Braun pull down the giant Mardi Gras set onto Miz?

I'm invested enough in Rousey if she appears regularly and doesn't disappear for another month. Steph NEEDS to get her comeuppance, but we know how Steph works.

We get Asuka vs somebody and no direction for the other brand's women's belt. Alexa's top challengers (Sasha & Bayley) look to be battling each other, and I think Charlotte is feuding with the Riott Squad, which doesn't scream WrestleMania. Maybe we get the first annual Sensational Sherri Invitational Battle Royal?

Shane battles somebody, because we have to have a Shane McMahon match. Bleh.

Old man Cena battles somebody, just somehow having found a path to WrestleMania, which I heard was almost impossible after being eliminated at the Elimination Chamber.

Cruiserweight title match that gets pushed to the first hour of the ten hour preshow.

Where does that leave everybody else? Seth, Finn, and Elias seem to be the top Raw hands with nothing really built up. The Raw tag title scene is kind of empty... Revival? Good Brothers? Titus Worldwide again? Four way match?

Same for SmackDown. Baron vs Dolph for the 900th time in the preshow? Usos against New Day for the 900th time (which would still be great)?
