I missed Smackdown again, but I caught 205 Live. Interesting trying to run this show after everybody leaves the arena (but those remaining got some sweet upgrades)!

They started with an intro of ... well, probably not the ENTIRE division, but everybody who was around. Cubs had some great tweets about this which I am too lazy to paraphrase/steal.

OK, I lied. I made dinner during the Bollywood Boys tag match.

Matches were all good if not very acrobatic....which is fine, but you'd think they'd bust out ONE big move for us to ooh and ahh on the opening show.

...or maybe not, since they gave us a title change, with Rich Swann pinning Brian Kendrick clean as a sheet after three impressive head kicks. I expect a rematch.

Vignettes were fine.

Interviews were....of varying quality, from decent to cringeworthy-level bad.

It'll be interesting to see how long they stick with it like this. I think the live audiences might pick up on the fact that sticking around another hour would be a good investment in their time ASSUMING they are fans of the pro wrestling. In these days of chanting idiots, who can say?

I didn't want to start this thread because I was woefully unprepared, so I hope you'll come strong with a take better than mine.

The crowd thing would be a problem. Maybe taping it right before SmackDown and then airing it a few hours later would help? I get that it throws off the "Live" title (barely), but did they have decent crowds for Superstars?

Rich Swann has it.

Jack Gallagher is going to be fun, but I feel like Vince will wonder what his problem is.

I enjoyed it. I thought that they were going to start with something acrobatic and daring to catch peoples attention, but instead they just had everyone line up and then show a video of the Bollywood Boys.

Gallagher will be good if they let him keep on doing this. Title match was good and kept my interest all the way through with a good finish.

Hopefully the crowds will catch on to it and stick around after Smackdown. Excuse my English ignorance here, but what time does the Smackdown show finish? Guessing it is getting late for the young kids to hang around so crowd is going to be a lot less. Hopefully those that stay will enjoy it and make a lot of noise.

Really it depends on where they are at. It airs 8-10 on East Coast time, so if they are on this coast it isn't over until 10, then there's still the hour of 205.

If it's on the West Coast, it'll be going on at 5-7 their time, so the 7-8 pm local time of 205 isn't that bad.

And the two middle time zones, subtract an hour or two accordingly.

Thank you Andy!

It will be interesting to see the Network viewing figures when they come out. Hopefully they will be good and they carry on working hard on it.

I enjoyed it a lot. Gentleman Jack is a lot of fun to watch, though I can see how it takes a bit of time for people to get used to his actions and style.

The title match was solid and I see why Swann gets the win. The guy just has it. He can wrestle, he is yet another guy with a sob story but also knows how to look good, have fun and is a solid promo guy.
I do hope/think they need to build some other heels besides Kendrick. Gulak/Neese aren't quite wicked enough.

Also, Bollywood boys need to go over the top or go home.
A bigger more goofy cliche entrance will actually help them.

I think it very much has to be something different to get people to invest an additional hour (or 45 minutes!) of their life in WWE programming, and it felt very much like just one more WWE show with slightly smaller guys. I would've put in the most flippy crazy match possible, not just because I love the flips and I love the guy who's most likely to do them, but because they had to establish this show as being something you had to check out.

Instead, they led off with a profile piece, and a tag match between a team that's been jobbing on RAW all summer against a team that's been jobbing on NXT and in the CWC all summer, with the hope that a profile piece would get me past on all that. Their match was OK! They needed more than OK. It was especially frustrating to see all the great (and much better, in my opinion) wrestlers who's only appearance on the show was to stand in a line. Gallagher doing an exhibition match was nice, but anyone watching this probably already was also introduced to him in the CWC (though the announcers weirdly played otherwise.) This show was on the same platform as the tournament, they needed to build off of that and give you reasons to stay tuned from the get go. Instead, we got Gallagher doing a short exhibition match and profiles of guys who didn't have a match. There was no hook.

The show was OK. There's just no reason to settle for watching an OK show with so many other options out there that are better than OK. There's definitely an audience that'll embrace any wrestling product with a WWE logo on it who will enjoy this show. To me, WWE essentially replaced Superstars with a slight better version of it. Maybe I'll check it out a day later when something gets raved out (like Swann/Kendrick justifiably did), but they didn't give me a reason on week 1 to watch it live and I probably won't going forward.

cubs pretty much nailed it. It's too bad WCW didn't do an hour show with their cruisers. There is a market for this type of show I just don't think it will ever succeed with a WWE brand. Maybe if it had it's own venue. It's content on The Network, and I'm more likely to watch it than The E&C Show or Foley Knows Best, but it's doesn't feel like must see.

My biggest takeaway was that I would be way into an Aries/Gallagher feud. Aries is definitely a guy who could sell the frustration of dealing with the Extraordinary Gentleman.

My biggest gripe with 205 Live is that it preempts Talking Smack, which is probably the most consistently great 1 hour of WWE television on air right now.

Other than that, the show was, okay, I guess? I'm not going to stick around next week though. I figure if there's a good match, I'm going to hear about it on this forum and then I'll just watch it on-demand.

Ohhhh, man! I would have been totally into a show with WCW's talented and well-developed cruiserweight division. Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Juventud Guerrera, Billy Kidman, Psychosis, Lash LeRoux, Chavo Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho...

I think everyone would agree that the Cruiserweight Classic worked because the fans were there to see it. They've been flat on Raw because Sports Entertainment fans don't necessarily want to watch wrestling. Airing after SDL allows the SE fans to evacuate and leave fans who will be more appreciative of what they're seeing. However, I still want to go back to having it after NXT on Wednesdays, maybe even weekly from Full Sail, just to attract an audience that appreciates cruisers - even though I understand that doesn't make fiscal sense.

Speaking of his new music...it sounds a bit odd. Not from a technincal perspective, they did a damn fine job of meshing in the 'I' instead of the 'we,' but it just sounds different.
