I was so not even paying attention last week that I forgot to start a new thread. Do we really need a new thread every month? Probably not.

PSN is starting a contest to fanvote which (apparently indie) PS4 game will be given away for free in PS+ the following month. (The losers will also go up at a PS+ discount.) Voting opens Thursday for the first three games and is most easily done by logging on to your PS4.

Armello - "A grim fairy-tale board game come to life"
Grow Home - "Discover a strange open-world:"
Zombie Vikings - "new co-op, four-player stab-you-in-the-gut-a-thon with a dead-funny adventure"

Grow Home has come out for other systems, Kotaku says it's great.

Parts of the readership may be interested in an article on Rock Band 4 info, but probably already read it.

New games on PSN

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is one of the new games out this week. Your character does a lot of walking and exploring. Some people complained the game has too much walking and is slow. It turns out, so did the people who made the game. They added the ability to Run by holding down R2, only it was a late addition so they didn't document it anywhere and it works only after you hold the button for a while so people would be unlikely to discover it on their own. Whoops.

PS4 Games
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture $19.99
Gauntlet Slayer Edtition $19.99
Goat Simulator $9.99
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons $19.99
Commander Cherrys Puzzled Journey $13.99
Kung Fury Street Rage $3.99
TorqueL (Cross-Buy) $9.99
Prototype $29.99
Prototype 2 $39.99
Toy Soldiers: War Chest ($14.99)/Hall of Fame Edition ($29.99)

PS3 Games
Goat Simulator $9.99
Xblaze Lost: Memories $39.99

PS Vita Games
Actual Sunlight $4.99
TorqueL (Cross-Buy) $9.99
Xblaze Lost: Memories $39.99

I had. And I have to say, I'm really not feeling the tracklist on RB4. Spin Doctors can only buy so much goodwill with me. Plus I'd have to buy an Xbox One just to play Rock Band 4, and money-wise, right now, that's not a good idea. Plus I have hundreds of custom RB3 songs, which is not a good reason to not buy RB4 (what with it being a legal grey area and all) but it's still a thing that needs considering. So I guess we'll see.

"Run" is very generous. "Barely discernible speed boost" is more like it. It wouldn't shock me to learn it doesn't actually do anything and is just a placebo, like the Close Door button in an elevator.

I played through the whole game in the past evening and a half. It's very pretty. Very slow. If you really liked Flower or Journey, maybe try it? I'd recommend waiting until it's a PS+ game or at least on a better sale than whatever it was I got for preordering (15% off, I think).

You can enter a drawing to test out the beta for PS4's next software update. (You should create an account on their message board too, since that's how you provide feedback.)

Or, you can wait until the beta is out for people to start leaking things onto the websites.

And I just bought the Jackbox Party Pack for full price a few weeks ago!

If you ever have a group of 3+ over, I'd recommend it. (Obviously, since I paid $25 for it.) My friends and I enjoyed You Don't Know Jack, but we really liked Fibbage, where everyone makes up an answer to a question, and then they are all displayed along with the real answer, and you have to choose the right answer from the list. If someone picks your answer, you get points.

There's also Drawful with a similar premise where you are told to draw a picture of something, then the picture is shown to everyone. Everyone writes what they think the picture should be called, and then players choose from a list of all the possible titles what the picture was really supposed to be.

The fun thing about these games is that you use your smartphone to play, so you go to a site and sign into a room, and pick your answers from your phone. You only need one controller just to navigate the original menus on screen.

The games are best with more people, so if you know you tend to host a group looking for quick, silly content on a regular basis, I'd recommend it.

VVVVV is an awesome game, although I don't know if $8 is the right price point. (I think I got it for $.50 off steam.) Its an old-school 2D puzzle-platformer that plays with concepts of gravity. Its probably easier on console but I got way too used to switching around gravity on my keyboard that it was fine. If you're in the mood for some retro-action, I guess $8 isn't that bad.

Uncharted 4 release date is now March 18. They missed end of 2015 by just a little bit. (Or once you miss December, you might as well miss everything.)

The link has the superfan luxury prorder packages, and also mentions the digital version has a $20 add on package has two multiplayer packs, an add on single player mode, and "a pack of Naughty Dog points". (Points are for multiplayer content. They're really pushing the multiplayer content.)

I feel like I should stop supporting pre-ordering games and this one might be the one I'd wait instead of buying day of, unfairly. OTOH, this game would have to be terrible for me not to want to buy it anyway.

I was literally just talking about this with someone about the Street Fighter V pre-order costumes. (shoryuken.com). At this point, we'd need to stop pre-ordering en masse to encourage publishers and retailers not to pull this crap. That said, for some of the advanced collectors edition style packages, like what the Uncharted stuff seems to be, it might be worth it.

The Kotaku says: Stop preordering video games. I pretty much agree with everything they said. If I had not pre-ordered Destiny, I would not have picked it up. I only slogged through it so long because I pre-paid for the first two expansions.
