WhatCulture is pretty much a dirt sheet site, but if true, this is definitely great news for Daniel Bryan and all his fans. His right arm problem may actually be an elbow issue and might not require more neck surgery. If so, we may be seeing the Goat return by Survivor Series to test himself against Lesnar the Mighty.

Take with the appropriate amount of salt. Silver lining would indeed be that it's not neck-related.

He'll have a hell of a fastball when he comes back. I just don't see Survivor Series in his future, probably the Rumble.

Huge huge huge news indeed. That this is NOT neck related is only a good thing.

I'm surprised we're not at least getting taped promos from him. He's the hirsute face of the company. Remember the RNN reports on the progress of Randy's arm?

Same goes for Wade, too. Maybe more so for him, as he's a better talker.

I had assumed that they were waiting until Barrett was in a place in his rehab where he could travel with the company again, and do his Bad News bits live like before.

Barret was at SummerSlam. Warrior's girls took a pic backstage with him.

FWIW, the source of the original farticle was Dave Meltzer's firsthand interview with Daniel Bryan. The Meltzer-Hogan dream collaboration also lives up to expectations. The version of himself Hulk decides to play is a treat, with bonus Dixie Carter burial.

As an arm under the pillow sleeper, I sympathize with Daniel's ulnar nerve plight. As his physician, I advise him to have the surgery and get it over with, enough of this "physical therapy" folderol.

Barrett should definitely go back to doing Bad News from the tower of decorum when he's ready to hit the road, but Bryan should stay off TV and get the full Triple H "Beautiful Day," Kurt Angle "Clocks" treatment building to the big return.

If the plan truly is to have Reigns go over at Wrestlemania, and Bryan's set to return at the Rumble, we might well be seeing Bootista 2.0 in Reigns' big push. I know I'd much rather see Bryan return to win the Rumble and dethrone King Brock at Wrestlemania than see Reigns in that position. Even if Roman improves exponentially by Mania. Bryan's been gone a short enough time that he would still be massively over, and the Steph/Brie angle has at least been keeping Bryan in the front of fans' thoughts. It would be interesting if Bryan gets forced into the main event of Wrestlemania two years in a row by his rowdy fanbase.

Though it's also possible that Bryan will return, immediately challenge Brock and lose just to add even more heat to the guy who ultimately beats him (Reigns). Or hell, Cena might win the title back at Night of Champions. With bookers this erratic, anything really CAN happen in the WWE ...

Wait, so was Bryan's neck ever the problem and how did it go from that to Tommy John? Did he have two problems or a misdiagnosis? Should he stop doing top rope head dives or stop sleeping with his arm under the pillow? And what's with the arm under the pillow thing?

Wade should be doing Bad News reports, and he might be more cut out to be a manager anyways so maybe try his hand at that until he heals.

I'm pretty sure in addition to whatever happened to his elbow he did have neck problems. Hard to confuse a damaged tendon in the elbow for something requiring neck surgery, and I'm sure the WWE doctors are a bit more competent than the bookers.

As for where the 'hand under the pillow' thing came from, your guess is as good as mine. Tommy John surgery replaces a tendon in the elbow with one from elsewhere in the body so I doubt it's a problem just caused by sleeping the wrong way.

If I understood it correct, they assumed the issue with his arm and with his neck were all the same neck problem. (He had known about the neck issues going back to 2011, this was a culmination thing.)

It was only after surgery, when everything felt better but Bryan was not regaining strength in his arm, where they started searching around to see what else might be wrong and found out the elbow injury.

If you sleep wrong on your elbow, you can pinch the ulnar nerve and get numbness in your last two fingers. 15 years of wrestling can be equally taxing on the body, if not more. So you end up with the match against Orton last summer where Bryan's entire arm went numb, and recently not even being able to turn a key in his car door.

On Sunday, Bryan was talking about his procedure as just moving the nerve around, not full blown Tommy John reconstruction. Whether Shoemaker has learned a new development following this week's tests or just misconnected the dots, IDK.

If they're just going to try and re-jigger his tendon, and it's successful, that would probably mean he can return by Survivor Series. If the full surgery is required, then a Royal Rumble return seems more likely.
