AWArulz - wow, I had no idea his stream was like 90% church stuff now. (I'm probably exaggerating.)
wait for football and hockey seasons to start

yeah, I see I am @awarulz on that but don't use that one. I am @curtisjtaylor now. I have no idea how "lists" work
Edit: I lied - I am on there with both it seems
Hey, Zed if you want my "really churchy" identity, it's @2bibleverses

I love Lionel, but he promotes himself A LOT. Granted, what else does he have to talk about? Hasn't annoyed me enough to overcome my love for him with an unfollow (...yet...) Besides, he thrills fans by replying to them - how cool is that? One day he might reply to ME! (Of course, I'd have to mention him more...)
Otto "Hack-Man" Heuer - knew him from r.s.p-w; he's now practically my neighbour (but not really, he's like, 35 miles away) - this is his "wrestling" account. (By the way, I think he's way wrong about the quality of this Grantland piece)
Kylie's impossibly beautiful sister - guaranteed to be the only person awake during a few hour period as she's the only person on my timeline usually to be found in Australia. I couldn't care less about the Australian version of "The Voice" but she's so purty
The Leftovers, but instead of 2% disappearing, they just stop clicking.
Former MNspeak runner, former roommate of Chuck Klosterman, currently in New York - not as clever as he thinks he is, but that applies to a lotta people on the Internet (me included, I'm sure) - more hits than misses on "thought-worthiness" but occasionally goes too "inside baseball" which will get him a lot of favorites from people from New York but do nothing for me
Hi everyone! Since I (Shane) got out of prison, I've focused my journalism on the major problems of our domestic... http://t.co/2BfZC7HJUo
Everybody loves talkin' about Sarah, even now! I follow her so I don't have to take her through the filters of my (largely derisive) other followers. Back in the day, I unfollowed Roger Ebert instead of her, so that probably says something about me. On the other hand, I wish people would take her as seriously as I do instead of WAY more seriously than I do.
Fantastic blog I used to steal photos from for the banner. I don't visit it as much as I used to, and their interstitial ads are the worst but I still like their tweets.
Cayenne's podcast. Funny! I don't listen to it near enough! Occasionally posts personal, non-podcast-y stuff as well. One of my favourite Minneapolitans, I think.
Seats are going fast for our upcoming beer dinner at @DublinsWB! Six courses, six beers. Call (262) 338-1195 to reserve your spot!
Wisconsin brewer who have a genuinely interesting e-mail newsletter. Following on Twitter was a natural evolution. I always see them at the beer tastings and I'm always happy to see them. (Although....don't let this get out, but I don't buy their 6-packs very often.)
Just a feed from their dot-com - a lot of which is syndicated material from OTHER sites. The occasional out-of-place WWE superstar profile is probably what's keeping me following them even more than nostalgia
Increased the amount we're pledging per Facebook fan. Like our page and $0.10 will go to SaveTheChildren http://t.co/I5xDGX3U#spreadtheword
Ex-reporter (KARE)...I could probably stop following him but recent tweets haven't aggravated me so I won't - heck, I wouldn't have seen THIS video if I'd unfollowed him, for instance...now I have to show it to Kim
Work & Golf are both 4 letter words but I'll take one over the other any day #nocommute
The perfect example of the kind of crazy stuff you can get on Twitter - they tweet once a day, the Empire State Building light colours that night, and that's it and that's all. (www.whatcoloristheempirestatebuilding.com is totally broken)
Another ex-KARE reporter - bio says he's now working for ABC News Radio. That means some New York radio station, right? Again, the news I get from him doesn't overlap with anybody else so I'll keep following. I guess what I can suggest to you is to follow everybody working for KARE, because they all leave for better gigs somewhere else in the country pretty quickly and then you find you get news from all over the country in your timeline.
On @kare11 and @MPRnews ... A new lawsuit against the Archdiocese ... A decades old case of alleged clergy sex abuse in Hastings
Clearly we're in the "KARE following spree" portion of my following - Trisha was a KARE reporter, then left, and now she works for MPR but will work for KARE as well...maybe some subsidy deal? She retweets A LOT - I guess I don't notice because half of her retweets are of people I'm already following so I don't see them in my timeline.
Joe left KARE (sound familiar?) to become the new hotness on the west coast, doing a lot of "Today" work as well as filing reports for the big NBC newscast.
Used to post here (as ladygypsy) but left years ago - moved away from the Gypsy thing but still uses it as her website URL (www.ladygypsy.net) - I like her blog AND her Instagram photos, but I think it may still freak her out when I comment or Love a photo
Oh, John - constantly fishing for retweets and favorites from celebrities. There really is nothing more aggravating and annoying than somebody composing a tweet solely for the benefit of celebrities looking for mentions of themselves (as opposed to tweeting solely for the benefit of the suckers who chose to follow you). The REAL problem is IT WORKS and THEN we get to see him retweet those RESPONSES from those celebrities - it's a vicious cycle because why would you ever be satisfied with any amount of attention from any amount of celebrities? But this is all jealousy talking, I'm sure. This is now the only way for me to learn that he's written a new movie review where he doesn't tell us whether or not he liked the movie I KID I KID COME BACK JOHN WE MISS YOU SO MUCH
So much natural overlap between the FMA and WFMU that I PROBABLY don't need to follow both....but they probably retweet each other all the time so it's probably better this way. (I tend to retweet WFMU more, I think)
Formerly great site which changed its tone when the key writers left and the new writers had...let's say "a different attitude." Later, they were confounded that their numbers weren't going up! Still later, absorbed into sister site The Mary Sue, where they are currently dragging THEM down. This one I will unfollow. (Is this only my second unfollow? Damn)
Laid off Multi-platform writer (TV, web, social media, etc.) looking for work! Got a lead? Hit up deputymarshall at gmail dot com
aka The Deputy - former blogger for a newspaper in Troy, for Spike TV, and later a cog in WWE Creative, where he only wrote and/or produced the good backstage segments...or ended up with his stuff drastically rewritten by the time it aired (see leaked script). He probably really doesn't want to, but he may now have enough experience to write an insanely interesting memoir about his time as part of the "new media" (which, honestly, we expect to continue)
No Snow Emergency declaration today. Plows were busy overnight and continue to work through day.
— Mpls Snow Emergency (@MinneapolisSnow) April 4, 2014
One of the most valuable local accounts in all of Minneapolis. I have a garage and don't concern myself much with towing but I'll always retweet them for my friends in Uptown.
I'm not much for the Follow Fridays but I'm making an exception in the case of this fascinating and important gentleman. #FF@Jon_Gnarr
Craig was reluctant to take to Twitter, but he has embraced it and as much as he pretends to love/hate it, he loves it. (By the way, he's right about Mr. Gnarr - that was a fascinating interview he had with him yesterday and if I run for office again, it will be as a member of the nonexistant American arm of The Best Party - but sorry, Craig, I didn't follow him)
So, I take it he has sworn off this site either because of you, or he wasn't getting the self validation he felt he deserved?
It's a little odd someone takes their Twitter use so seriously. I don't get the whole celebrity retweet business, I assume it's sort of the same thrill as an autograph for some. It's kind of cool to get one I suppose, but I don't know why anyone else would really care if I got either.
Twitter is weird sometimes. #freshair
...or maybe I misread all of this. Good luck in your future endeavors.
"Is your airplane to Bumfucksville, Montana about to take off now? Who gives a shit."
is a veiled shot at me since I fly ALL the time but then again, John never followed me back so after a while I quit following him.
I took a shot at the 10 or so tweets in a row about how overly excited he was about Batista coming back (tagging Batista in each one) and he blocked me, so, yeah...
Longest-tenured anchor (which may also mean "oldest") still at KARE - currently hidden away on the 4PM "newscast" (I'm not against cooking segments, but if there's a cooking segment... it's not really a newscast)
Awesome day for @FrontRowNASCAR. 2 top 20 finishes. Gaining on it??
Gilly's then-teammate at Front Row Motorsports, Kvapil moved to BK and is now with FAS Lane. All of these moves aren't exactly upwards for him and I wonder how much longer he'll be full-time. (That "domestic incident" probably didn't do him any favours either.)
I think I took it as a challenge to find his old account he never used any more, so I found it and followed it. Probably the dead-est account I'm still following.
I can't remember who this guy is or why I follow him. I think he must have worked for the Timberwolves front office? Or maybe he was just a Timberwolves fan I kept reading from other stuff...? Anyway, I can see we're heading closer to the...
Natalie Kane was one half of the Timberwolves courtside hosting crew when I first started regularly attending home games (the other half, Mike Rylander, was so thrilled to be a Timberwolves host, he'd tweet about "peak oil" during games - he later left to be a big-time liberal Hollywood actor, I stopped following him because he tweeted like a prick and RETWEETED like a prick and, probably totally coincidentally, he later lost his gig as CLIPPERS on-court host, which led to a whole lot of whining - looks like he currently hosts a "show" on online channel ORA.TV and has not done better than that Doritos commercial...) errm, that was an awful lot about a guy I don't even follow any more. Anyway, NATALIE left the T-wolves gig for a gig as traffic reporter on WCCO's morning show, graduated to ... host? Something else? on that same morning show (sorry, don't watch it), got married, changed her name, and I'm still following her.
You did! Congrats on the new gig. MT @RB_Mrs Told you I'd still be on your TVs ??
One thing that came out of my tete-a-tete with John Orquila is the realisation that I have managed to follow very few "celebrity" celebrities on Twitter. I think Craig Ferguson and this guy are the closest I get (we'll see if that holds true as we go on). Conan doesn't overdo it, so I've stuck with him, even as I've almost completely avoided his show. Besides, if I DIDN'T follow him, I'd probably have to read retweets of everything he said thanks to OTHER people I follow anyway...
Hey, my first "private" account! Let's see if I can fake an embed here. Another dude from here, it looks like he's given up on tweeting - he has eight tweets for all of 2013 AND 2014 so far (but 3601 total)!
Welcome to Race week in Charlotte Bliss Fans! Please don't for get to follow Wave Energy Drink on Twitter! @TasteTheWave
Hmmm, I wonder what the difference is between this one and @NationwideNNS up there - I suspect one of these is NASCAR's and the other is Nationwide's. That sounds good, at least. Let's go with it.
I used to fastidiously track my unfollowers so I could browbeat them after they unfollowed me. Now a bunch of strangers follow and unfollow me so I don't care so much...which is just as well, as this service died after one of Twitter's "we don't like you using our API for fun and profit" changes. (How I still have @The_W working amongst other things is a great mystery and/or testament to my stubbornness to work around roadblocks)
For the past 2 yrs I've been working on a productivity app called Kona. It's awesome and free. You should check it out: http://t.co/hTYG7KNy
See, let this be a lesson to you - NEVER unfollow ANYBODY because one day they may just randomly tweet out of the blue and shock the hell out of you. (Although, if you made the argument that this wasn't exactly a "can't miss" tweet and I wouldn't have been much worse off if I HADN'T ever seen it...it would be hard for me to counter you.)
Looks a whole lot like Wiggins signed deal is part of trade to MN for Love. Formality move to match salaries.
Former runner of a Minnesota sports site - I can't remember if he sold out or gave up, but the account converted to a personal one, but the sports were still right, and he followed me back, so I'm still with him.
Hey, I think that's a hundred! Man we'll NEVER end at this rate. I've unfollowed, what, two accounts? This project hasn't gone the way I'd hoped so far. Maybe the next hundred...
Sings on a lot of that downtempo house I used to groove on (mostly via Naked Music). VERY sporadic tweeter - due to probably a very sporadic concert schedule - I saw her live in a basement club here once; it was pretty cool
After party, last show on the "Replay tour" it was an experience, great bands: the GoGos, Scandal, Motels, great... http://t.co/n7BDR1Hnmd
Half the group is dead so it's just Pete Byrne now. Tours on a lot of retro 80s fests, yet he never makes it to Minneapolis. He KNOWS I'm here but he willfully passes this city over!
Whoa, remember when Marshall had an MMA blog? (I have to confess I'd forgotten.) He still has the occasional stray thoughts about MMA, but they end up on Tumblr (thekevinmarshall.tumblr.com) (or, very rarely, here).
Former KARE weekend anchor, current mastermind behind BringMeTheNews.com - an almost totally useless follow if you happen to also follow THEIR feed, which I do... (although it looks like he's stopped retweeting them and now just doesn't tweet much at all)
"We'll continue to look at opportunities to enhance our ability to be successful." -- #Knicks GM @scmills
Former chief of the Timberwolves' online presence, took his talents to the New York Knicks - posts photos of Walt Frazier every chance he gets (which I endorse!)
Picnic in the Park! Great weather, great times. #hpdl (@ Pearl Park Recreation Center in Minneapolis, MN) https://t.co/MwUOw15TyD
Another Timberwolves fan I picked up along the way. What happened was I got really into a "Fan Nation" chat/feed thing that the T-wolves set up during that Godawful 2009-10 season - I ended up following some frequent contributors on Twitter, and then the thing stopped working for my (then) ancient phone after they changed to a new platform. Nowadays they have a lot more people in the building and can't offer any "chat" type stuff until they upgrade the Wi-fi (which has now been promised for two years and counting). The TC Renovation will start any day now...
Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!
Hmmm, weird - this SHOULD be @anywhere, which was a Twitter product that was probably sunsetted a great long while ago, but the profile is in some sort of limbo...I guess? I don't dare unfollow them or I'll lose all proof of their existence! (Google says the Anywhere sunset was March 2013)
Makers of knowledge management solutions and the bane of my existence at my job. Oracle eventually bought them, so I suppose there wasn't much need for them to be social anymore
Beat writer for the Timberwolves at the local rag - constantly giving off the impression that he'd rather be covering any other team but this one, which makes him a super fun follow during the NBA season (and many parts of the offseason!)
So a lot of people I COULD unfollow here, but if they're already not tweeting, it's not going to affect how my timeline looks if I WERE to unfollow them. That makes this another 0-fer.

Yeah, pretty much. I was more active on Twitter before my previous job, then ignored my personal account for my professional one. (I've since managed to completely forget the password for THAT account.) Lately, I've just been more active on Facebook, which doesn't say much about Twitter. I'm sure a lot of those tweets were Foursquare checkins. Every now and then, I'll check my feed, but now that I'm at a job where I'm not even supposed to HAVE my phone with me, that kind of puts a damper on things.
You wanted the best, you got... the Out of Context Quote of the Week.
"£8.70 for a measly 16 out of your average fag machine." (dMr)
Originally posted by CRZOK, OK, you can talk about John on HIS site. We're supposed to be talking about ME.
I'm glad I was out of town while this saga was happening because if I'd had a physical keyboard, I'm sure I'd have written half a novel about how people behave when it comes to Twitter and fame and "Twitter fame" if that's a thing. Not that I've ever followed John, for the reasons you've outlined above (or I did and quickly gave up? I can't remember). Certain other people, however... I don't unfollow them, because I don't want TO hurt aNY feeLINGs, but they get muted on occasion when I need a break.
Oops, I missed two days. Oh well! Tuesday night I saw Africa Addio (imdb.com) and Addio Zio Tom (imdb.com) for the first time - and probably for the last time, as they were pretty brutal.
