Knowing that the Season Premiere was a two part Beatles tribute, I decided to wait until both parts had aired before judging the return of Glee. Last week's episode wasn't a total return to form for this show, but it was still better than a lot of what was shown at the end of last year. This week? Yep, Glee is in danger.

The decision to split the school year into two seasons was a bad idea, and it really shows in these episodes. Everything feels exactly the same, even if there are a few minor changes. It just isn't that exciting, and that's one thing that Glee never was in the past: boring.

Does Jane Lynch get some solid monologues? Definitely. Her plan to get rid of Figgins was classic Sue, and her tirades in the second episode were almost enough to make me forgive the stupidity of her plotline. It just makes no sense. Glee has never been realistic, but Sue Sylvester becoming principal after covering for a student who shot off a gun in school? Even the appearance of Ted from Breaking Bad couldn't bring any credibility to these sudden plot swings.

Kitty and Artie is a fun enough pairing, except I liked it more the first time when they did it with Brittany and Artie. Then again, it seems that Kitty is really coming into her own as a character this year, so I guess that's good, because God knows that Glee needs more characters pulling focus.

The thing that surprised me the most about these two episodes? The lack of Marley, Jake, and Ryder. These three ate up so much screen time with their love triangle last year, and now they haven't done anything. They haven't even had solos! I don't know if this is a bad thing necessarily, but it's kind of insane to ask the audience to invest so much time in these characters, and then toss them off to the side like background players.

Another character who doesn't do much of anything these days? Will. I remember when he was the lead of the series, I actually feel bad for the actor. He basically has to be there to write a word on the blackboard every week, and then nod his head in agreement at the end of any Glee club group number. I can't help but think that this is a waste of the actor's talents.

I'm at the point where I think they've run out of interesting things to do at the High School (another bitchy cheerleader? bonus: this one can't act worth shit), and part of me thinks they should just shift their focus entirely to New York. Then I realized: I don't give a shit what happens there either.

Rachel got the lead in a Broadway musical, because of course she did. Santana waving away her three year relationship with Brittany without hardly a mention of her was an obvious retcon due to the actress' pregnancy. Instead, she has a sparkly new lesbian love interest played by one of the judges from The X-Factor whose name I can't recall. Kurt just stands there like the little bitch he is, but at least the writers have wised up and know not to give him ear-piercing solos.

Were there things I liked about this premiere? Yeah. I always love the music of The Beatles, even when their songs are performed by people who have no business singing them. "Yesterday" was great (although maybe a little too on the nose), "Saw Her Standing There" and "Help" both had the fun and energy of old Glee, and the "Hey Jude"/"Let it Be" combo almost saved the episode last night.

I like that the show has found its sense of humor again. Sure, Sue's plotline is ridiculous, but at least it gives Jane Lynch a chance to make snarky meta comments on the state of the show each week. Santana's Yeast Infection commercial made me laugh harder than I think I've laughed at anything in the last few seasons, and the Carrie tribute that they pulled on Tina (as well as Stoner Brett) made me smile due to how much I wanted to see Tina get what was coming to her.

These weren't the worst episodes of Glee ever, but there is definite room for improvement. Hopefully the Cory Monteith tribute next week will bring a much needed spark to the show, otherwise I don't know what else they can do to save it.

Some of the songs they played damn near made my ears bleed. They should have saved the Beatles tribute to ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, which is an incredible movie.

Sorry, I have trouble believing that someone who forces themselves to watch a show made for tweenage girls isn't at least somewhat aware of who Demi Lovato is.

Glee is, unfortunately, past the point of "trainwreck appointment television" into being just another bad show with occasional decent singing.

There's just nothing fun about the show anymore. The two best comedy characters left the show for either greener pastures or babies, and they're still stuck having to balance two storylines that people don't care about, with the awkward fog of Cory Monteith's death hanging over the show (even though they'll never address it).

I'll still probably watch it, because I like to see these things through to the bitter end, but it's not going to get better at this point.

Easy now. He said he couldn't recall the name of the actress. He didn't say he didn't know who she is.

Oh, and for the record, I didn't know who it was. I had to look it up.

I just watched the episode online uncensored. It was truly bizarre hearing Mickey Mouse say the F word. As a Disney fan, I was prepared to be offended-- but it was funny. I loved the added touch of the happy-go-lucky Mickey laugh (ha ha)
