I know the episode aired nearly a week ago, but I think it's worth mentioning and memorializing here.

As a series finale, "Reckoning" was pretty standard fare: huge, final confrontation with the Big Bad, tearful goodbyes and reunions, mourning losses. If you only watched the finale and caught the "Previously on Burn Notice" recap, you knew everything you needed to know, but you would've missed out on what was a tremendous 13-episode story arc.

In what ended being an excellent storytelling device, the final season had little to do with the overarching mythology of the show. Rather, it focused on the character of Michael Westen and his relationships to his friends, family, lover and country. As Michael attempted to build his cover with mastermind terrorist James Kendrick, James lit a slow-burning fuse within Michael while interrogating him that ultimately led to Michael questioning everything he previously held true about what was right/good and wrong/evil. The slow burn played out over most of the rest of the season, which culminated in a pretty dramatic breaking point for Michael, and opened the door for his redemption.

The end was fitting, though I would have been satisfied with the way it was presented before the reveal in the closing segment.

Loved the final season as a whole (which featured two major Heroes alumni), and will miss this show.

EDIT: Not only is there a typo in the title, but I accidentally hit Enter while typing. Should've been "Burn Notice 7x13: Reckoning (Series Finale)". I think this might qualify for an edit/correction. :-)

I'm really gonna miss this show. It was always one of my favs.

I smiled at the couple throwback lines they used in the finale.

"Should we shoot them?"

"You know spies, bunch of bitchy little girls."

I would've bet anything that momma Weston was gonna tell Michael that she had cancer (from her life of smoking) and wasn't gonna live long anyway when she told him of her plans to blow herself up.

When they showed Michael and Fiona at the very end, I expected them to start talking to each other in an Irish accent and complete the circle of them being back together again in Ireland.

So any chance of a spin-off with Sam and Jesse? They seemed to set it up as a possibility when Sam asked Jesse if he was interested in working with him.

I caught that too and wondered the same thing, though I'm not sure those 2 characters could carry their own show. I could be wrong (and usually am).

On any other network I would say you were right but on USA, I could see Sam & Jesse getting a show.

I think they also left the show open to a reunion movie in a couple of years when none of the actors have been able to move on with the exception of Bruce Campbell who's acting career is like a cockroach, you can't kill it.

I nearly gave up on this show a few times, as it seemed there was always a guy-behind-the-guy-behind-the-guy. But I'm really glad I stuck with it, because these last two seasons were terrific.

I think this is the interview (insidetv.ew.com) in which Matt Nix says that they've casually discussed doing a TV movie and that everyone is hoping it happens, but absolutely nothing yet has been formally agreed upon. Given how much fun they seemed to have making the Sam Axe flick, I'm willing to bet something comes up in a few years.

I really felt the opposite way about the last couple seasons - they felt like they happened because it was still profitable and helped the USA schedule, and not because they had a lot left to say about the characters. A lot of Michael working his way out of being burned only to be burned again anew. I missed the A-Team like helping out a client stories, dropped this season. Evil Michael was a very interesting concept, but they got to it too late to do much with it. They instead spend a lot of time building James up just to be shot like everyone else.

(And the legit death near the end seemed only happen to make the fake out death after seem plausible. With all the improvised ideas they come up with on these shows, it seemed like there had to be a better solution there.)

I enjoyed Burn Notice more when it was light summer action fun with occasional more arc heavy episodes; it didn't feel strong enough to hold all the seriousness thrust on it the last season.

(Also, darkly amused by Michael proving he's good by apparently shooting a woman in the back.)

This is why I wouldn't mind seeing a Sam & Jesse spin-off.
