J.R. Ewing has died, and this is not a dream. (dallasnews.com)

I was too young to be a Dallas watcher during its heyday, but I remember Who Shot J.R.? and what a phenomenon it was. I did see a little of the Dallas remake and he sure looked old. Anyway, this is a terrible eulogy, so just RIP.

For those who haven't seen it, you have to check out Fail-Safe. He didn't have the biggest part in the movie but it was one of the most important. RIP

J.R. being shot is the reason we have season finales as big as they are. I remember Dallas, a lot and he played probably the best villain on TV ever. I also remember I Dream of Genie, too which was a nice wacky comedy. I also liked him in Nixon as an evil oil baron who may or may not have had Kennedy killed. I know it was a wink to him as J.R., but it was such a small part, he played a wide range of emotions that it was very memorable. He will be missed. RIP Larry

I watched the Dallas reboot and thought he was great playing J.R. again. However, he looked old. SUPER old. Not that this is the most important thing about this news, but I wonder what happens to Dallas now. Last I heard TNT renewed the show for a second season, and the way they ended Season 1 there's no way they can just write him out.

Answer. (insidetv.ew.com) He shot some episodes for season 2 and his death will be incorporated into the show.

Between "Dallas" and "I Dream of Jeannie", he was a big favorite of mine.

RIP.

The new Dallas is excellent and a major reason for this is Larry Hagman playing JR again. Even in his 80s, he was so into that role that you just totally forget he was ever anything else. The show won't be the same without him, that's for sure, but out of respect, I will give it a chance.

I was a fan of the original show as well. I feel like I grew up on the man, thanks to Dallas and Genie. Almost every day, you could turn on the television and see him in something.

It doesn't feel right having a world without JR Ewing. He'll be sorely missed.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

Seth MacFarlane is an equal opportunity offender, and he was supposed to be on the American Airlines Flight 11 that hit the north tower, so I give him a pass on his 9/11 jokes.
