Two questions:

Are those mozzarella sticks formed into french fries?

And, where can I get some?

They may be Chicken Fries from Burger King. Which I didn't know had been discontinued until I looked at wikipedia just now.

EDIT: In fact, a google search found this, which I believe is the photo in question. That would mean the photo is in fact frozen uncooked chicken fries.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq!

Man, I remember being SO excited when my 4th grade teacher broke out the training equipment from the Bell System (yep, pre-AT&T-breakup), and they taught us how to use the rotary dial.

Awesome.

Trying to explain the awe we had for our first touchtone phone to the kids is nigh impossible. Between iPods and high-speed internet, they're somewhat jaded about technology changes.

Not us though...my friend down the street got one of the first ones in our area, and we flocked to his house mainly because it was easier to win radio contests.

Hey I resent that.

I know how to dial a phone using the call-termination thingy by emulating a rotary dial cadence. tap tap tap tap tap (5) tap tap (2) tap (1) and so forth...

You used to be able to use that technique in stores on courtesy phones to dial out when there wasn't a dial pad...

My dad had something like that. It was basically a pocket recorder that would cup at either the speaker or mic of the phone. the phone. It could store about 5 numbers and you would hit record, put the device over the speaker and dial the number you wanted to save. It would save the taps. You could just cup it over the phone mic and hit the button and it would dial for you.

A geodesic dome! I helped build a 30ish foot tall one back in college as part of a low-cost housing prototype. If I ever move back to the sticks, I'm totally building a small one to use as an adult jungle gym.
