So, when we last left our heroes, they were getting attack on all sides. Episode 2 primarily deals with the aftermath of everything from the home invasions to Jax and the others at Jimmy Smit's aka Nero's whorehouse to Gemma/Terra. Episode 2 goes pretty fast that nothing much happens other than Jax and Tara finally tie the knot before Jax, Tig and Chibs surrender to the police. We do see Nero try to impress Jax by driving like a mad man while being chased by Pope's people. Its a pretty great scene. They even discuss how legit Nero's business and Jax does ponder it as a way out for the club. Yet, before he can move on from that, he has to go to jail and Opie decides to join them as he headbutts the sheriff as they are arresting him. We do see that the nomads seem to behind the home invasions as they have Clay's safe and Tara/Jax's marriage license. Gemma goes back to Nero as we see the guys in prison.

Episode 3 is not fast. It is deliberately slow for a reason. We finally see how powerful Damien Pope is. He controls the prison. I mean the entire prison from the warden to the guards and most of the inmates. He is even chilling in the warden's office and gives Jax a deal. Pope gets 50% of the drug money, Tig stays in prison for the rest of his life and oh yeah one of them has to die. Jax tells Opie this and pretty much everything about Clay killing JT, the letters, Tara and why Piney died. Opie goes off and they tussle til the guard shows up and tells him they need to pick who goes into the room and dies. We go back to Gemma using Jax's baby momma to try to get Abel from Tara, but it totally backfires. Tara tells Gemma she loves her, but if she messes with her family, she will have Jax kill her by giving him the rest of the letters.

We go back to prison where Jax, Opie, Tig and Chibs discuss the deal. The guard comes back and Jax is about to tell to go screw when Opie uses is signature headbutt on him. Opie goes into the room and is brutally murdered by Pope's men as Jax and the others watch. Pope and Jax discuss the deal, but Jax turns it on Pope asking for Tig to stay with him and then after he is done using Tig, Pope can have him. Pope agrees and tells Jax he is not the one doing the home invasions. Jax tells Tig, he got him out and he owns Tig's ass for life. Tig thanks him not knowing Jax is going to feed him to the wolves. As for Gemma and Clay, Clay goes to the whorehouse and sleeps one of the girls. Gemma finds him and the girl, beats the shit out of the girl. Later, we see Gemma getting arrested along with Nero and his girls. So, his business may not be as legit as we thought.

I emotionally checked out during Opie's death, because I love the character so much that his death would probably cause me to just give up on the show, but so far it hasn't. Opie's death really screws up the Hamlet theme that Sutter has stated he is using for the show. If Opie is Horatio then why did he die and yet, Clay who really should have died in season 4 is still alvie. Sutter did a lot of backflips to keep Clay alive to the point, Ron Pearlman has stated, its probably due to the Hamlet theme. If Sutter is throwing that out then why not kill Clay in season 4 and if he is throwing it out now, why? It just doesn't make a lot of sense, but then it could be me trying to find fault in killing one of my favorite characters. I mean I love Clay, too, but holy shit does he deserve death.

To me, this season is leading to Jax making hard choices, giving up Tig is one of them, but you kinda wonder if keeping Tig close is just a way for Tig to kill Pope when he least expects it. I have no idea and Pope not being involved in the home invasions begs the question what is up with the Nomads. Is there another player in play we haven't meet, is it Zoebell or have the other charters had enough of SAMCRO that destroying them is their only option. Who knows, but its damn intriguing.

Opie dying was almost as sad as when Shan dropped a grenade in Lems lap on The Shield. Sutter has a way of setting you up and thinking one thing will happen and the the opposite occurs (faking the Jax/Clay split to set up the ATF bitch and having her killed).
Great start to the season so far.

The season has been fantastic so far. I'll truly miss Opie as he was the most tragic and sympathetic character on the show to me. SAMCRO really destroyed that man's life, but he stayed loyal to the end. I still loved his line when he spared the ATF agent the first time "The outlaw had mercy. You remember that." RIP.

On a lighter note I kinda liked Juice getting dragged along by both Clay and Nero's assistant and the whore house (Fancy whore house by the way), then Nero and his reaction when Gemma showed up. It was just the light amount of comedy for such a heavy episode.

It's a Fox Sports Network thing - each regional network can run the national shows when they want, but all the commericals for the national shows are done nationally. You end up with commericals that say 'check your local listings', and if no one does......
