The early line for the Super Bowl is Patriots by 3½ - or 3 depending where you bet (lvrj.com) with the over/under at 53½.

Now, you have two whole weeks to think about this, so don't feel you're on the spot RIGHT NOW, but I did want to report the early line.

Even though these 2 teams somehow played a 0-0 half in November, have to go with the over, and even if I didn't like the Giants outright I'd like the hook considering the 4 Brady Super Bowls have all been 3 point games.

I think New York is going to win outright, cementing them as New England's white whale and continuing NYC's domination of their sporting rivalry with Boston.

The O/U is too high. I want the Patriots to win but the Giants are a tough match-up. I think Giants 21-17.

2007 was fun as the Patriots were fighting to have the ultimate perfect season, and the Giants were the spoiler. This year, it doesn't matter, and the Pats win 35-20.

I have to work that night, and I was going to try and get someone to cover, but I hate both teams and thus I will only DVR this Super Bowl...for the commercials.

Even if the Pats win 56-7, I'm not sure that will make up for the horrible feeling of watching the "Helmet Catch" unfold and them replay it over and over and over. A fluke pass resulted in a fluke catch by a guy who never caught another NFL pass, ending the perfect season with minutes left.

This one is gonna be close. It should be an interesting two weeks living here in Connecticut halfway between East Rutherford and Foxboro.

Giants win outright and I feel good about betting the under. And yes, I'll be in Vegas again for the festivities this year. (Meaning the annual commercials thread will once again be fashionably late)

Giants win, in a nail biter. Peyton is forever known as "Eli's brother", and Victor Cruze wins the MVP.

The Giants seem to have fed on the rematch scenario over the past 2 playoff runs- well, this time, the rematch is a game they *won*. Wonder how much that'll factor in to it?

Given how close the Conference Title Games went, plus the prior Super Bowl, here's the bold prediction- This will be the first Super Bowl to go to overtime. Giants tie it late, Pats win it in OT 31-28.

Eli wins in Peyton's house. Peyton steals the spotlight by announcing his retirement immediately after the game, setting up a brother vs. brother match at Mania.

Crap. I forgot. No fantasy booking.

I'm not looking forward to the next two weeks of harping by the media over how great and wonderful Eli is followed by the comparison of the two brothers.

I am looking forward to the defeated look on Eli's face when they lose, however. Maybe, just for an added bonus, they can get a couple shots of the entire Manning clan with their heads hung in disappointment too.

Much like JD Drew's grand slam, the Super Bowl is a prime opportunity for Mister Ochocinco to justify his contract with a jaw-dropping catch for a winning TD.

Looking at the NFC Championship game after the Pats won, I feel like the Giants have a better shot to go TD-for-TD with the Patriots offense than the 49ers would've, yet I would've liked to have seen the Niners D vs. the Pats O. A lot of the Patriots offense seems to be predicated on YAC (with Welker over the middle, Gronk and Hernandez), and the 49ers D is as solid a tackling group as I've seen all year, so that would've been a fun match-up to watch.

...which, should it happen, would never ever even remotely approach the shock or even the significance of the Patriots' blowing their perfect season.

I'm going to go with the Giants winning outright followed by the Giants inviting A-Rod and Jeter into the locker room during the NBC postgame celebration, causing the entire city of Boston to spontaneously explode with rage.

At least, that's how it happens in my dreams.

Well...56-7 would.

I don't feel confident in a Patriots win. However, my lack of confidence gives me an odd feeling of confidence. And NOBODY on the Giants is anywhere in the neighborhood of "nobody believes in us."

I still don't get why everyone is so confident in the Giants? They stumbled into the playoffs at the last possible second (literally the last game of the regular season) and Eli played terrible Sunday against the 49er's (who did everything THEY could to look even worse than the Giants).

Heck, they nearly did the same thing as the Ravens at the end of the game and nearly botch the field goal in over time (delay of game? really?).

(Edit: I stand corrected. Fixing.)

NEP secondary, I would think. Plus they beat New England this year with last-minute funtime. But Giants' defense is not exactly in Feb '08 form either. So a shootout on the fast track, the culmination of all the rule changes and passing records falling.

You do realize that the NFL is ever so slowly becoming the NCAA right? You already use the spread offence. (Coming Soon to Chicago!) You changed your overtime rules to be more fair. You added the 2 point convert. There, fixed that for ya!
