With seven minutes to go before the trade deadline, the Charlotte Bobcats traded the face of the franchise, swingman Gerald Wallace, to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for center Joel Pryzbilla, forward Dante Cunningham and center Sean Marks (all in the final years of their contracts) and conditional first-round picks in 2011 and '13.
In trading the first (and thus far, only) Bobcat to make the All-Star team, the move leaves Matt Carroll as the sole remaining original Bobcat on the squad, though he spent a year and a half with the Dallas Mavericks in '09 and '10.
I wonder if this means Michael Jordan is giving up on the Bobcats catching the Pacers for the final spot in the East (which, hey, is fine with me!), since I can't imagine any of those players making the same kind of combined performance that the former All-Star, Wallace, has done. But obviously he's building for the future.
