Jack LaLanne, Founder of Modern Fitness Movement, Dies at 96 (nytimes.com)

Does it make me a bad person that my first thought was... "And George Burns lived to 100!"

Yes, I have a Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer in my cupboard.

My 1st set of weights were LaLanne branded. I still have them and use them, 20 years later.

It just seemed to me that he REALLY cared about people getting fit, and that charging them for his branded items was just the icing on the cake if they got healthy using them.

I honestly only know him from the juicer commercials but I always remember thinking "Damn, he looks in amazingly great shape for someone his age".

Did George Burns smoke those cigars, or were those a prop, like Drew Carey and his glasses?

It's all in the genes.

I am old enough to remember those old black and white TV shows he had on and that one piece suit he wore. He was an amazing presence.

Cap got the potential for greatness from the needle, but he still had to train his Star-Spangled ass off in order to acheive the peak physical perfection he's now got. Basically, all Cap got from the Serum was a head start.
