Last minute surprise move for NBC to pick up David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman after all the networks reportedly passed on the project earlier this month. This just means NBC ordered a pilot. Doesn't mean it'll go to series, or that the pilot will even air if it's no good. Would it be any good? Read the description in the article of the "re-imagining". Hmm.

But say Wonder Woman does happen, even if for a season before cancellation like Bionic Woman did a few years back. It's also been announced that Charlie's Angels is coming back as a series on ABC (the first Angel has already been cast). And ABC intends to greenlight (pun intended) an Incredible Hulk series.

Charlie's Angels, The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman. Welcome back to television, 1970's! When is the Three's Company reboot happening?

It can't, you can put someone else in a superhero suit but there's only one John Ritter.

I think a live-action Batman series (in the vein of the Tim Burton or Christopher Nolan eras of the films-- not the '60s-like camp, or the Schumacher style) could do quite well.

I love that the Terry O'Quinn/Michael Emerson show is actually happening. Surely that will be good, right?

The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.

Oh, this just sounds like a pile of crap. She's a crime fighter! But she's also a career woman! But she's also just a regular gal trying to figure it all out!

Wasn't there a Wonder Woman movie in the pipeline, or was that just groundless internet rumor?

There was a movie in the works a long time ago with Joss Whedon attached to direct. Then Whedon was suddenly dumped and the entire thing was quietly scrapped.

It's one of those things that might have been for the best, because it left Whedon free for Marvel to scoop up for The Avengers.

As for the Wonder Woman series, it sounds like a terrible idea, but Smallville completely re-imagined the way we looked at young Clark Kent. On paper, it looked like a horrible idea ("Superman meets Dawson's Creek"), but it worked out pretty well in the end. At the very least, this deserves a chance, but I'm not holding my breath for anything great.

The big thing this show will have working against it is that I'd imagine it's going to compete with ABC's Jessica Jones series, which looks a lot more interesting if they stay true to the root of Bendis's Alias series.

Smallville worked on paper for two or three years, fell apart and need to be turned into a DC universe show just last this long, it has helped it was on one of the worst networks in the history of man where its rather ok ratings kept in for 10 maybe 11 years. I would rather see a Wonder Woman movie or her guest star in Smallville then a show that sounds this bad. I am curious about the Jessica Jones show, but without the rest of the Marvel universe there to back her up, it turns into a lifetime show about a female detective. Also, Jessica lost a bunch of points in her post-Civil War stint then again no one came out looking good in the post-Civil War garbage.

What about Jason Ritter? The Event can't possibly last much longer.

I've only seen The Event pilot and a few episodes of Joan of Arcadia (don't judge me) but I haven't seen a potential Jack Tripper out of him.

I know what you mean. Jason's kind of like Michael McGuillicutty. He just doesn't have what his father had. Who out there is the Dolph Ziggler equivalent to Jason Ritter's McGuillicutty?

For some reason, I can totally picture Ashton Kutcher playing Jack Tripper.

Unfortunately, the first thing I associate with Wonder Woman is all those hacky stand-up comedy jokes about her plane.

"She had an invisible jet- how'd she ever find the thing?" (rimshot)

It was pretty dumb, but at least Aquaman could always hitch a ride.

That was my first thought, too. Pardon my male chauvinism, but my first thought was I can't wait for the first episode where she has that "not-so-fresh feeling" and has a dilemma in the pharmaceutical isle, whipping out the cell and calling Aphrodite to she was she recommends.

Who the bloody fuck can replace Lynda Carter? That's been the main problem for numerous years on a reboot. NBC, I hope you succeed but previous series such as Bionic Woman & Knight Rider have failed due circumstance beyond your control.

Okay then. Tell me how it's relevant. Give me the slightest reason to believe this was a necessary part of any storyline, not just some tidbit dropped by the writers to shock or titillate the fans.
