From ESPN, the top vote-getters (the probable starters) were mentioned earlier on ESPN. Though there is still voting to do, this is who has the top votes thus far from each conference in their position...

Eastern Conference:

Guards: Dwayne Wade/ Allen Iverson
Forwards: LeBron James/ Kevin Garnett
Center: Dwight Howard

Western Conference:

Guards: Kobe Bryant/ Steve Nash
Forwards: Carmelo Anthony/ Dirk Nowitzki
Center: Amare Stoudamire

Conclusions/ Thoughts:

No real surprise on who is leading here, though I will completely disagree with one person and that is Allen Iverson. The guy has played 8 games, ping-ponged around a few teams as of late and this guy is the second leading vote-getter among the East's guards. This proves how biased the voting can get even if a player is less deserving than other guards:I probably would put Joe Johnson from the surging Hawks into the East starting rotation.

No other surprises here with Kobe leading the West while LeBron leads the East in voting. It is nice to see Nash up there as he is normally chosen to the mid-season classic via coach's decision as he leads the league with assists.

For once, Tim Duncan is not up there in votes but I would have put Dirk ahead of him as well this season and perhaps another person I may have as a starting forward is Kevin Durant but Dirk and Melo serve good representatives in their respective positions.

On another note,T-Mac isn't that far behind Nash as he is third in the guard voting for the West but has played 45 minutes this season as I would have put the rookie Tyreke Evans up there pacing the Kings this season to a hopeful playoff berth.

Your thoughts and opinions thus far on the all-star voting...........

The first (and only?) preseason matchup to be broadcast on NBA TV is tonight's Grizz/Heat game from San Juan, PR at 19:30 Central. Hoops or Smackdown, hoops or Smackdown... While I'm at it, here are the other national preseason games:
