It's a two-year extension that takes him through the end of 2012.

Steve Nash accepts Phoenix Suns' $22M extension

After receiving an improved offer last week and taking a few more days to deliberate, two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash notified the Phoenix Suns that he is accepting their two-year extension offer worth an estimated $22 million.

ESPN.com first reported the agreement earlier Monday and his agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed it to The Associated Press later in the day.

Sources told ESPN.com that Nash is expected to formally announce his decision via his Twitter feed later Monday.

Of course, this doesn't rule out that the Knicks will attempt to trade for him at the end of next season, but with a $11M a year price tag, I highly doubt it.

Maybe the Knicks have a Plan B for their point guard needs.

I know he likes the fact that Shaq is gone, but I'm really surprised he is reupping with a team stuck in neutral so early in the game.

Maybe Nash sees some hope that by staying, some other bigger talent would want to come. At the same time though, I am kind-of surprised because Nash is still good guard in the NBA which now-a-days is filled with talented guards. I will say I am some what surprised he didn't go to a team that would be a better playoff/ title contender than Phoenix.

With the lower salary cap projections for 2010, perhaps Nash realized it is better to get what he can now rather than getting the mid level exception next year.

I was fortunate enough to schedule a Baton Rouge trip to coincide with the date of the National Championship game in case Kentucky was in it and am grateful to report that via a $40 parking space and a $50 ticket, I was able to watch the game in person fr...
