tonight at 9:00. ABC, 2 episodes. I'm stoked too see one of my favorite shows back, but means I will only see some bits and pieces of ECW ( I know I know I won't be missing much) and will have to catch up on wwe.com. Let's hope that all the past glory has returned.
And if you're like me and forgot to set the prioritizer on your DVR, it will repeat both episodes Wednesday night starting at 8am. I only got the 2nd episode because of a rerun of Food Detectives. *grumble*

"I remember meeting a mother of a child who was abducted by the North Koreans right here in the Oval Office." — George W. Bush - June 26, 2008, during a Rose Garden news briefing.
What I liked: - New interns. I like Headbutt Jo already. - Stuffed Carla in the closet - Steak night song and dance - Emotional episode. They were due for one, I think. One of my biggest complaints about last season was with JD having a kid but still failing to grow up and show some real character development. - John Ritter reference. +1 for good continuity. - That's the FONT! Recognize! - Kelso isn't gone gone.
What I didn't like: - Very little Elliot - The "patient dies and we all feel sad" show has been done at least thrice already on this show. Mrs. Wilk comes immediately to mind, as well as the nice old lady from the second season who left the hospital for cake in the park. The woman who saw the end as a big musical number, also. - Dr. Monica - Fired Janitor (aka, The Janitor). Of course it's a device, but don't tease me about no more Neil Flynn. - By the way, where was Sam? Hanging out with Ben from Friends? -1 for continuity.
On the whole, I'm glad to see the show back and on a new network. I saw more commercials for the show this year then every other year combined. Of course, the extra exposure on Comedy Central has helped tremendously. I have a few friends who only started watching and appreciating the show since it went there, so I'm glad that's working out.
Supposedly the entire cast has only been signed to 16 episodes a piece as a cost-cutting measure (they produced 18), so a few episodes incidentally won't feature a few cast members. That's why Elliot - not to mention Dr. Cox, Dr. Kelso and The Janitor all were absent from the second show.
Not sure if that applies to Zach Braff, too. Even if they do one of those "His Story" episodes, I don't know how they would structure it.
Highlight of the second episode: When they did the old lady "foxy view", afterwards JD had two hot dogs sticking out of his pocket. Awesome!
"As you may have read in Robert Parker's Wine Newsletter, 'Donaghy Estates tastes like the urine of Satan, after a hefty portion of asparagus.'" Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock
I missed that! I was expecting him to have a clothespin on his nose, and was disappointed when it wasn't there.
Even funnier the second time around.
Things I forgot to mention: - Ever increasing dudes with red balloons (those Lost fansites are popular!) - Sarah Chalke, do me a favor and eat a cheeseburger. In my living room. - I swear the new janitor's badge said New Janitor. I dunno, my TV is only 720p. - Ted is my favorite quote machine. "One's for if I get sad...and the other is for if I get really sad." - Okay, Dr. Monica has some potential.

That's how I got hooked. I missed out on the last "season" by just forgetting that there were actual first-run episodes on NBC. Now that I have a DVR, it has made life much easier.

I wasn't sure what to expect -- I sort of believed that 1) there was a point of no return that they'd hit, and 2) I could never like those characters again. I would say I'd developed an irrational anger towards Scrubs but to me it was plenty rational. So after reading interviews where Bill Lawrence acknowledged the show being bad for the last three years and basically copped to all the bad habits that had driven me so crazy, that was cathartic in a weird way.
And when he said that he told his writers (and some ABC guy had told him) that if the show was going to come back for an 8th season, that they'd have to start writing good episodes again and eliminate the lazy wackiness (I swear, almost a direct quote), I was pretty curious to see how this would go. And I was pleasantly surprised and impressed enough to not only be looking forward to what they have planned for their swan song now, but to have actually LOL'd a few times.
The show is not going to be a socks knock offer like it first was now that shows like Arrested, Office, and 30 Rock have raised the game so high, but I'd be perfectly happy being perfectly happy with it. It didn't hurt that Courtney Cox made it feel like the heady days of 2001 all over again. Finally giving America what it wants, a reunion of Friends from Night Court.
Sure the show isn't at it's peak. But it's nice to have them back for a few more episodes. Hopefully they can wrap things up and give resolution to things.
Headbutt Jo is awesome. If ABC wants a ninth season after this, make her the lead.

Fixed.
Good, not great. Courtney Cox did much better than I thought she would (she acted incredibly well) but I'm not feeling the character just yet. I do like still having Kelso pop up from now and then, hopefully it leads to something evilly funny; maybe screw with people in the hospital and blame Ted, or something. Who has two thumbs and loves Bob Kelso? This guy.
As much as I dislike self-referencing or meta-comedy, gotta give it to them on that little bit after the first episode. "Only Dr. Shaloub wins awards" indeed.
There's a lot of love for Headbutt Jo here, but again I wasn't quite feeling her character. I get the idea but nothing she did made me laugh. Now, Ed on the other hand...really, there's potential with all the interns. Jo just didn't quite click with me yet.
No Todd, no Doug, a fired Janitor? NOOOOOOOO BRAIN TRUST NOOOOOOOO!!!
Also agree with Sarah Chalke needing to eat more food. Yeesh.
I'm one of those who can't stand J.D, even though he's the lead in the show. Just too infantile, childish, and effeminate for me. But, in that first episode he was the main supplier of laughs for me so kudos there.
And finally, as with all Scrubs episodes including the ones that focus on him, NEEDS MORE COX.

It seems to me that they're trying to scale back the secondary characters and trying to write solid stories with the main cast. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Hopefully The Todd, Doug, and Hooch (he's so crazy) will turn up ever episode or three.

30 Rock removed by bitter Office superfan
If that ... helps? I'm the last guy who's gonna begrudge anyone objecting to what they feel is undeserved overpraise for a show (boy Weeds is terrible, by and by).
Although notwithstanding whether you like it, it's part of the same trend towards deadpan, language precision, attention to detail, joke layering, etc.
And finally, as with all Scrubs episodes including the ones that focus on him, NEEDS MORE COX.
I disagree, character is played out and sucks, which they seemed to acknowledge by having him go in the opposite, more understated direction of his usual tired schtick. Still hope he dies this season.
If the writers hadn't overindulged in Dr. Cox rants in the first seven seasons, the always present, never funny Commish commercials would've killed the bit single-handley. If this whole season was Dr. Cox getting sonned repeatedly, there'd be no complaints.
