WELL IT'S THE BIG SLOW

Mr. Wight is returning to WWE, having fallen out of love with the Hulkster. You just know he's gonna come back with a lame new finisher. What's the over/under on when he goes back to the goozle?

Also, Inside Pulse's motto should be "We read the Observer so you don't have to!"

Oh hell, he's not going back to ECW, is he? Punk's doing just fine as champ and we're well on our way to a feud with Shelton Benjamin feud that should tear the house down. I hope all that doesn't go out the window in favor of adding "star power" to the third brand.

Or we could always get yet another UT/Big Show feud over on SmackDown!, but at least that could potentially mean the end of the Big Daddy V push.

I liked his cobra clutch swing of death thing in ECW. More interesting than a chokeslam anyway.

Rather than the end of the Big Daddy V push it'd probably result in more "monster" matches involving Show, V, Mark Henry and Khali.

Well, as long as Kane can stay away from the 3 mentioned above I am OK with that. Then I can just FFWD through all their matches without caring about any of the wrestlers in those matches.

OMG SaveUs.222 really was about the Big Show! Jericho appearing on TV for two months was just the ultimate red herring.

I haven't gotten my Observer yet but, as with Jericho, I guarantee that a dude isn't going to agree to come back to be on ECW.

This is kind of scary thoug, as when he left his body was thoroughly trashed and he was hurting so bad that he was talking like he was done for good. Then again, a year off and the special limited dates exemption contract might ease the pain.

Well, he was getting in shape to maybe make a go of it as a boxer, and apparently he's got his weight down to about 440. A slightly leaner Show would be a really nice thing to see.

Like he needed anything more than the Hog Log to kill someone. That's a fine finisher.

I'm glad to see him back and hope he's used well.

Has there been an extended Batista/Big Show feud at any point? For the life of me I can't remember. If not, that would seem a logical one.

I don't think they have, other than the Big Show and Kane invade Smackdown to fight Batista and Rey feud where Rey got squashed. That would be a logical WM opponent for the Davester since he's out of UT/Edge, HHH/Orton, and Cena. Unless this is the chance to do the Hogan/Show match they missed out on last year.

Show vs. Khali will be something.

After watching him in the low 400s lately in 24/7, I am actually quite excited about his return, assuming he really has dropped the weight and can keep it up. Plus, he has become a much better worker since 1997. If he is lighter, healthier, and motiveatd, he can be quite an asset to the company.

The Big Show's choke slam was the best the sport has ever seen, no one could do one like him. Undertakers and Kane choke slams are so phony looking, it's silly.

The Big Show is by far the greatest Giant to ever wrestle bar none but unlike Andre, Show was forced to sell moves to opponents and lose often.

If they treat Show as a real Giant, meaning he rarely sells opponents moves, and they don't overwork him, he'll do great. If they make him sell opponents finishers outside of major events like Wrestlemania or Summerslam, it won't go over as well.

Andre always will be THE Giant. Big Show -- while good in his own way -- will never have the presence, impact or long-term/cultural relevance of Andre the Giant.

And Show was an idiot for listening to whomever told him to sell moves like he had been (i.e. -- getting powerbombed by Nash and jackhammered by Goldberg, F-U'd by Cena). Show exposed himself and I don't think he'll ever recover from it. Andre, however, was smart enough to know when to sell, how to sell and to whom to sell for.

I dunno. Going to ECW and falling through tables all summer rapidly sped up his physical deterioration. When he finished up, he had like half a dozen different injuries.

I don't think it works that way. Otherwise Goldberg would've been a lot more Goldbergian when he was in WWE.

Do you mean this in a "you do as the boss tells you" sort of way?

I can see that, but he was tight with Hogan, and by proxy Bischoff. It's not as if he couldn't have at least been like, "No, jackhammering and powerbombing me probably wouldn't be best for me in the long-run."

There's putting over someone/their move...and there's unnecessary overkill.

I totally agree with what you're saying, but I don't think the problem was in WCW. Those moments were HUGE because he was so powerful there.

His dominance started to fall apart the moment he showed up on Raw and was named "Big Nasty" in the first of a shitload of crappy names and songs, ending with "The Big Show".

The selling of moves was WAY over the top for what he should have been doing in the WWE too. I don't care about big moment moves like The Jackhammer, but when guys like Billy Gunn gives him a dragon-screw leg-whip and he flips over, that kinda crap killed him.

Of course, Vince's whole "I'm gonna punish you (Jeff Hardy normally) by putting you in a match with.... THE BIG SHOW!!!!!" only to have the smaller guy win in a "stunning upset" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. every week for months didn't help matters any either.

Wasn't that the debut of his "Freddie Mercury" look, according to HHH? Or was that RR 2000?

And Alex, I think jobbing him to Austin a month after he debuted killed any momentum he had when they signed him. Even if Austin was the #1 guy in the business, it just seemed like the WWF was saying, "even though this guy is a monster and we have hyped him to the moon, he is still not a legitimate threat to our top guys because he is from WCW". Jobbing to Jeff Hardy, among others, over the next few years totally exposed/buried him until Heyman began booking him in 2002.

Great show. Big night feel throughout. 7 big debuts, including three former world champs. Plus a couple of surprise returns. Don Callis was back on commentary alongside Josh Matthews.
