I couldn't think of any other board to pop this on, and I know it may be in tribute to his work, not his recent actions, but is it appropriate to use Chris Benoit as a banner considering all aspects of he and his families death?
In example, say I'm a Bills fan, wouldn't it be a little messed up if I started a Bills fansite and on the front page was O.J. Simpson?
Again, this isn't necessarily site bashing, as Benoit was possibly the most popular wrestler here, but when do we draw the line and call 'scumbag'?

For what it's worth (squat) I figure that it will be months before we have any answers of what caused this, if ever. I don't have any quarrel with those that can't get past the final two days of apparent insanity, but I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it.
As an old WCW fan, I'm not sure there's been a higher high over the last 7 years than the climax at WM XX. That was the night I forgave Vince for (imo) burying the competition that had the misfortune to have been on the "wrong" side of the Monday Night Wars. So far, I'm still mostly remembering the good things. Looking through the big thread, it's apparent that people have an honest difference of opinion on handling this tragic news.
And I might add that as horrific as this is, my guess is just about all of the fans here have stayed fans through all the deaths of the last 10, 20 years. Fans of the NFL could question themselves too. But I believe that's a discussion for another time.

Thank you, Zed. I echo what Submit2 said; seeing the graphics up there and contributing to the Benoit thread have been an important part of my healing process. Even if, right now, I can't imagine a time I'll ever fully be over it.

Compared to the news cycle crap this is just fine. I am however, offended by watching Benoit hug his son about three hundred times during segments. As a Benoit mark, I appreciate the banners. As a human being, I am just sad about what happened.

This used to be my favorite match for the longest time. We had this pro wrestling club in the 8th grade where the gym teacher brought ECW tapes, a whole genre of action that none of us had ever seen before. And everyone else was all excited over Ian and Axl and barbed wire, but for me it was Al Snow vs. Chris Benoit. I was BLOWN AWAY.
Not that many other matches I'd see in later years weren't better than this one, but it's like... WrestleMania 8 isn't the best Mania ever, but it is to me because it's the first one I ever saw live and I have a soft spot for it. Same with this match.
I wondered why you had those banners up every day. Whether it is in bad taste or not I suppose is irrelevant. It's your site, and you can do whatever you want with it. If it helps you grieve, more power to you. Anyone who doesn't like it can certainly get their Benoit news somewhere else.
To me, it is conflicting. When I see them, or other old footage, I am almost taken back to the good old days. Then I find myself feeling guilty for doing so. That will fade with time, but I imagine it will be a LONG time before I can enjoy Angle vs. Benoit from RR '03, or the WM XX 3 way again, or even attempt to do so.

That's one of my favorite songs and I remembered that the piano coda on the end was written and played by Jim Gordon, who later went on to beat his mother with a hammer before finishing the job with a knife. Even so, I still love the song and think it is beautiful, so I think that once the initial shock has worn off, I'll be able to watch Benoit again and separate the matches from his later actions.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to say anything, but tomorrow is the last day you said you were planning on having up the Benoit banners. I was wondering if it might be possible to put up something that has Nancy in it. Woman was one of my favorite valets, and while she wasn't active at the time of her death, I think her accomplishments deserve some kind of memorial.

Personally, I don't know if I'll ever be able to separate Benoit the performer from a guy who committed one of the most heinous acts possible.
Hearing a section of a piece of music performed by an individual who did that and not being able to see him isn't a problem for me, but watching video of a guy that murdered his wife and son engaging in activity that's mimicking physical aggression IS a problem.
Of course, it needs to be noted where my state of mind is right now. I have quite a few Ring of Honor and Japanese DVDs to plow through and as many times as I've tried in the past week, I can't even force myself to watch any wrestling at all (I couldn't even do it with Impact on Thursday - make your own "Impact is unwatchable" joke at your own leisure). I do realize that this will most likely pass soon, and if not soon will absolutely pass at some point down the road. Maybe that'll be the case with Benoit's matches specifically and I'll get to the point where I'll be comfortable watching him wrestle, but that won't be for a long long time.
As far as the images posted on this board? I didn't have any problems at all with them. For some reason that for the life of me I can't quite explain, still images of the man don't bother me as much and I interpret it as nostalgia. In fact, I saw the final image and was overwhelmed at what a perfect and fitting way it was to end the week-long string of banners.
In any case, I'm just glad this board will be at least somewhat resuming a sense of normalcy, as pathetic as that sounds coming from somebody who was simply a fan of the guy and hadn't even so much as met him in person.
