Jeff Bowden, FINALLY taking the bullet and stepping down.
Holy crap I was thinking this day would never come. I'm gonna have to throw a party. So much talent for next season, now if only they can get a great person to replace him this may be the best day ever.
I need to go buy myself a present. Oh happy days are here again.
This is my favorite line from the ESPN.com article:
"It's just time for me to move on," Jeff Bowden said Tuesday. "I believe in my heart this is a decision I need to make."
Translation: "We just got blanked by Wake EFFING Forest. I get the point."

Personally, I was hoping for Kentucky and Florida State to somehow end up in a bowl playing each other, and Randy Sanders to somehow end up calling the plays for Kentucky. It might be the first game in history where the final is 0 - -2.
I don't even get how he stayed on this long in the first place. Their offense has gone from decent to workable to anemic - and now that the defense hasn't been able to bail them out, it's showing. Heck, their entire team is very similar to what Tennessee had happen last year. If Bobby B. can hire a good offensive coordinator, then FSU could quickly be back to respectability.

Oh man if you go by when Richt left, their offense went from dominant to crap in one year and has gotten worse every year since. The defense has suffered so many injuries this year that they have started a ton of freshman, but like I said this is good news for next year. If they get the right man for the job they have as much talent as anyone in the country. I'm actually excited about FSU again even with not knowing who will replace him, because nothing could be worse.
Unless maybe they hire Ron Zook or Larry Coker.
Edit:
Ok so who can tell me if I should be excited about this or not?
"The leading candidate to replace Bowden is Valdosta State coach Chris Hatcher, a source close to Bobby Bowden told ESPN's Joe Schad. Hatcher is close to the head coach and would be available to coach as soon as a bowl game.
Hatcher, considered an offensive guru, led Valdosta to a Division II national championship in 2004. Valdosta did not make the playoffs this season for the first time since 1999."
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden received a $537,000 buyout from the school's boosters to resign.
The settlement was revealed Wednesday when the school released a copy of the agreement Bowden's attorneys reached with the university and its boosters. The resignation takes effect Nov. 26, a day after the season finale against Florida.
Bowden -- youngest son of head coach Bobby Bowden -- retains his present $141,000 salary until his contract expires next August. He will then receive annual payments of $107,500 until August 2012.
The agreement, dated Nov. 14, was signed by Jeff Bowden, whose legal first name is George, and Andy Miller, president of Seminole Boosters, Inc.
Bowden had been under fire for the past several years as Florida State's offense declined and his dad defended his performance.
But with Bobby Bowden's contract expiring in January of 2008, it was uncertain how the university was willing to negotiate an extension while Jeff Bowden remained on staff.
"It's just amazing," Bobby Bowden said Wednesday. "When things go wrong the first thing they blame is the offensive coordinator. That's kind of the game we Americans play."

Thanks for the article, Flea. Resigning and getting paid handsomely for six more years sounds pretty nice work if you can get it. For the rest of us, if we were asked to resign, we get a kick in the ass on the way out the door.

I actually think that is brilliant. Why waste school resources (which I would assume are government funds since I'd assume FSU is a public school) to pay a guy NOT to work there when others are willing to do so?

Yeah I mean if it's not against any rules, and really why should it be, then I don't give a crap. Boosters giving players money is horrible, but they already fund the football program in a big way so he was being paid by them to suck now he can be paid by them to sit.
I'm sure if they passed the hat around the building before it cleared out at halftime of the Wake game they would have had twice that money if it would have ended the pain that night.
