In something I hadn't expected...the transition from UPN and WB to CW has begun. A quick round of channel surfing tonight has found the UPN station that broadcasts on the local cable network has made the switch. UPN 11 (KTSW from Seattle) is now CW11.
I'm wondering how many people's stations have changed names as far? I was under the impression it was all to happen at the beginning of September.
The CW logo in the corner of the screen was too bright, they should have made it translucent instead of being a very solid white.
Here, look at the monkey! Look at the silly monkey!
I saw a commercial for the new CW at the movies last night, featuring a bunch of WB and UPN actors most of whom I have never seen. The only one I recognized was Batista, crushing a CW logo. At the end, they had a CW11 logo, so I guess its the WB station here in St Louis that's converting. I wonder what is going to become of the UPN station.

WRBU will be doing the My Network TV thing like a lot of second fiddles. I don't think KPLR is switching imaging until closer to the official network launch.
In Chicago, the local UPN dropped the UPN logo the day the merger was announced, and they've had a MY bug for a month and half. WGN is locally a WB station; they're obviously not going to change names, but they've been incessently running ads for CN.
I'd guess most soon to be ex WB/UPN stations have either gone this route or are about to. They've got no loyalty to networks which are about to die and want to establish their new brand identity (whichever it is) far in advance of the new season premiere, even if they're still airing the same WB/UPN in the meantime.
My WB affiliate, WLVI, will be making the CW switch. I already have a My Network affiliate as well (WNDS switched over about a year ago), so my UPN affiliate is going to go back to being independent. Hello, prime-time reruns of Frasier!

Interesting ... I saw a CW commercial about a month or so ago (maybe the first one ever?) and guess who was the only wrestler that they deemed "worthy" enough of an appearance?

See Gugs, you are too young a whippersnapper to remember the good old days of Channel 38 when it was the independent station that ruled all of New England. You'd get the Movie Loft at 8 with Dana Hershey followed by either Hogan's Heroes or MASH on nights when there were no Bruins or Red Sox broadcast. If there was Red Sox or Bruins coverage, that would bump the Movie Loft, but you would still get something of the combination of Hogan's Heroes/MASH/The Three Stooges. That's much better than what you'd generally get from UPN or WB over the past decade. I think if they broke out tapes of the old Mini 1-on-1 segments and put them head-to-head with the CW (or the Bruins), they would win the night on that alone. Mini 1-on-1 kicked ass. To be fair to Channel 56, they generally had the better cartoons.
Yeah, Phoenix did the "UPN45" to "My45" thing right after the initial announcement too. (Couldn't say what's happening on the WB affiliate, as there's nothing on there I ever watch.)
