"For several months Monday Night RAW has been without a General Manager. But that will finally come to an end, this Monday, right at 9 p.m. ET when Mr. McMahon will make the announcement that will change RAW forever and names a new General Manager."
There's more, but I'll let you read that for yourself. They're already throwing Paul Heyman and Stephanie McMahon's names out, so you can pretty much rule them out. Any thoughts?
No, but seriously, the only prediction i can make will be that it'll be unpredictable. RAW's been on a hot streak of delivering stuff recently that, if not unexpected, is at least not a disappointment, so i can see them pulling someone either new or shocking out of the ether. Either that or it's just Bischoff again.

Dusty Rhodes was the guy rumored to be the new GM before Vince McMahon decided he was having fun being GM and wanted to do it for awhile. So I'd still guess him, plus it might be a smart move to give Dusty a TV role before his DVD set comes out this year.
I'm thinking JBL too. It would fit well, despite it probably being only a temporary reign like Angle's on Smackdown. From what I've heard, JBL's thinking about retirement, and I'd assume WM XXIII is where he'd want to go out. Shawn Michaels is a name I heard he wanted to work with, and JBL as the heel GM versus the reunited DX would make for great fun and give you an ideal setup for a JBL/HBK WM match after which JBL retires.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; July 5, 2005) It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...
It won't be a face, since it would go against Vince's current character. I think you're all right about JBL; it would make more sense than randomly having Bischoff back or something.
Speaking of the GM position, is anyone else kind of surprised that Teddy Long has lasted this long as SD's GM? I mean, he's not taking anything off the table, but he's not bringing anything to it either (tm Bill Simmons)
"He looks like a perverted roofer who knocks off early on warm spring days to drink beer and ogle teenage girls at the river, but wrestles like a man who actually cares about his job." ---DVDVR's Raven Mack on "Gigolo" Jimmy Del Ray
I think the question to ask is WHY... why are we still doing the rehashed GM angle that has been done for years and will only siphon heat off the people the fans pay to see - the WRESTLERS, err SPORTS ENTERTAINERS. Yeah.
Seriously, though, outside of Austin/McMahon, has any GM-based storyline drawn money?
I'm sad that JBL looks to be stepping back from the wrestling side of things, but he is such a good talker and has great heat and presence, so he will be perfect as GM. Can't wait!
JBL would be my favorite choice. He cracks me up, and Smackdown just isn't priority viewing like RAW is (Friday night vs Monday night, no contest.) He would also be something new for RAW, and since it seems like we aren't getting a draft lottery this year, that would be a good thing. I agree that JBL sliding into the DX fued would be killer.
Dusty would suck in my opinion, because most newer wrestling fans and those who never watched WCW much at all really wouldn't give a crap about him. He's old fat and talks funny. Perhaps he would be entertaining if he came in and revealed he was the father of Goldust, with wacky antics ensuing, but that's not particulary befitting of the GM role.
It'd be fine by me if Bischoff came back, as he was excellent in his role. So they make up some reason as to why he is able to come back, who cares. That will last 5 minutes while his tenure as an entertaining GM character will continue for months and months. The ends far outweigh the means here.
HBK: You’re flat broke aren’t you? MJ: Please let me wrestle on RAW! HBK: Fine, but I ain’t wearin’ no fruity tassels. MJ: Are these your mirror pants? HBK: Give me those!

I have to think Heyman is going to be busy with ECW. Stephanie is probably due to give birth soon, so that would probably rule her out. JBL would be a good choice (like some here have suggested) but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Bischoff.
"Speaking of Thomases, I loved your recent Atrocious GM Summit column, although I think that you flatter Isiah Thomas far too much by suggesting that he is merely one of a number of atrocious GMs. The truth is that Rob Babcock and Billy King are Einstein next to him. The mess he is creating right now in New York will be studied by business school students 50 years from now alongside Enron and pets.com."

Hulk does have his new grille coming out that he will want to push. I can see him every week in his GM office cooking something different on it as he's talking to the wrestlers.
