We've built a pretty solid community here at The W (we of course being relative, as I've been registered for over 3 years and lurked for a year before that and haven't yet cracked 150 posts), and with that community comes history.

What are your favorite threads or posts at The W, serious, funny, bizarre, or whatever?

Mine:

Troll Amnesty (The W)
I find this thread fascinating (it prompted this topic) for a number of reasons. The history built here, CRZ's astounding recall of who has been banished and why, and then the group piling on with their memories of past lunacy. Amazing stuff!

Don't You Wish You Were Me (The W)
Maybe the greatest of my favorite sub-genre of the "CRZ's World" forum, the Zed oh-so-polite bitchslap of the trolls. This one is the best of them. Bonus points for CRZ not allowing replies to the thread, as he no doubt sensed that posterity was important for an epic thread such as this, and others piling on could only diminish the greatness of this work.

Try to Argue with this: Angle=Best (The W) and Stables? (The W)
Probably my two favorite troll threads (another favorite of mine), with a nice sampling of the hostile troll and the clueless troll. CRZ's incredulous and digusted "Absolutely not" in the latter is priceless. Reasons 1 and 1A why Banished is must-read for me. I'm kind of sad that we have been denied SPF's SPFers though.

Eddie Guerrero: 9 Oct 1967 - 13 Nov 2005 (The W)
An incredibly sad thread, of course, but also a reminder that genuine emotions can exist even on a message board, evidenced by this outpouring over a terrible and stunning loss.

MOTY 2004 (The W) and Building Brock (The W)
My two favorite posts by J-Sharp, who I consider to be the best wrestling writer there is these days. Bonus points for the post that follows the latter and CRZ's annihilation of "Slippery Pete" who I think never posts again.

What other threads or posts stick out to everyone?

My favorite thread was probably the one that pretty much covered everyones opinion on the whole Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita affair. I think the amount of postings went over 10 pages.

Somewhat related to the Don't You Wish You Were Me Thread...

"W"oman sucks!

I'll admit it. I love this thread. Yeah, it did get a little "I hope she's locking her doors" creepy at one point, but I still got to rip on JayJayDean for being a Bryan Adams fan, It just has all the perfect elements of a complete and total train wreck.

I was disappointed TTP wasn't allowed back for Troll Amnesty - although I'm fairly certain watching him drive CRZ up the wall was infinitely more enjoyable for me than it was for CRZ.

Easily one of the most misunderstood posts of CRZ's history:

The moment I saw this thread I was coming to post that link, or perhaps the one to the wrestling forest. But as I said in the Coming Soon For Sweeps Month thread, just read all of the posts by james1978 and understand how the internet makes the world a better place.

I do regret never getting my own stable. I was hoping I could have some sort of gang wars angle with redsoxnation's ummm...Red Sox Nation.

Personally, I'm going to go with BobHollySTILLRules and his glorious farewell thread (The W)

A couple of other favorites:

The finale to Matt Hocking's LOTR parody (The W)

the Terri Schiavo thread (The W) proving that when we contemplate mortality, we get ornery.

A true Grimis classic (The W)

And lastly... the thread where somehow we all ended up on OKCupid (The W)

(edited by spf on 2.5.06 0956)

(edited by spf on 2.5.06 0957)

Now I'll never be able to lead SPF's spfers! (The W)

I remember that! Hilarious!
I can't believe that was three years ago. You guys have incredible memories.

So here's my question: In a million years, did you ever think this would happen? One decade ago, I didn't even have an e-mail address or know what the Internet was ... now I can watch Piper slam a coconut against Snuka's head whenever I want? What will the world be like 10 years from now? Is it possible to procrastinate for 24 hours a day? Are we headed that way? -Bill Simmons on YouTube.

I enjoyed the thread where everyone talked about how they picked their username for da W.

Of course the one Nag mentioned is so funny to read now. I remember James a bit, but I don't think I ever saw that thread. Great stuff.

Also, the discussions of the WWE Smackdown video games were always good threads to read.

Dean's Smackdown Comix are a must read for me every week...even if I didn't catch the show. The best part? It's a tie between the Trojan Corner, or when his daughter contributes. Example: Last week, when a dead goldfish beat up the Undertaker :-)

Great stuff, indeed.

Two years have gone by now, and just to update vsp... Let me doublecheck here... YES, I do STILL have both my kidneys... but I did gain a wedding ring.

Kudos to whoever did, because that was the icing on the cake for that thread.

My favorite thread of all time occurred I believe before I even got here, but someone was kind enough to provide a link for Troll Amnesty (even though I can't find it now for some reason and it's not coming up on the search). Seven Simple Words:
"it well be called the wrestling forrest"

It's the only time I ever read a troll post/thread that literally brought tears (of laughter) to my eyes.

Edit: FOUND IT! (The-W.com)

and I think a visit to all of James1978's threads are in order. The Marty Janetty Thread (http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=12613#152960) is also classic.
