On WWE.com's advertisement for the second annual ECW One Night Stand (which, ironically, they're not calling Two Night Stand, hee), they announced three people who will be competing at the pay-per-view, only one of which is a shocker.
We got Rob Van Dam, Chris Benoit, and Terry Funk! Hee, I wonder what the middle-aged-and-crazy bastard's gonna do. I was unfortunately only able to see a watered-down version of him in the WWF and WCW, but he's quite the psychotic son of a bitch from all accounts. (And I say that only out of admiration and respect, of course).

I think "middle-aged" stopped describing Funk YEARS ago, a fact which makes me wish he weren't performing at this or any wrestling event anywhere. Funk isn't like Flair, who is old enough to be many of his coworkers' great-grandfathers but rarely does anything TOO dangerous, unlike Funk who is a good bet to go through a table or get hit in the face with a bat or get set on fire, or get sent through a flaming table by a shot to the face with a flaming bat.
I'm just not comfortable watching a 400-year-old man do that sort of thing.
Wow, it was bad enough watching Funk in 1996. I can only imagine how bad he'll look now, in 2006. Don't mind watching the guy cut a promo, but wrestling is a whole different story...
I'm not 100% convinced on the poster, either. WWE knows that that kinda poster isn't stay a secret, and no way they'd spoil the fact that Cena will lose the title betwee now and June.
It's just something they leaked to screw with our heads if you ask me. Or completely faked by a fan or something.

Pleeeease tell me I'm not the only one who thinks a Cena/RVD match would be SO much better of an idea. Just picture the crowd at the Hammerstein. RVD, the hero of the entire Hardcore movement, against the ultimate smark target. The electricity would be RIDICULOUS and the crowd would damn near tear Cena apart, you know it. Sure, they'd boo Triple H...and that would be a great match too, but the Cena heat in an ECW ARENA would blow the roof off the joing. At least, in my opinion.
EDIT: I was gonna edit "joint" but "joing" is a much cooler fake word. So fuck it, it stays.

I dunno, I think the smarkiness would be more for HHH more than anyone else -- even with Cena being their recent target.
I read a report on LoP today that there was an advertisement that said the main event for ONS would be HHH v RVD v Sabu.
I don't the ECW fans would take kindly to HHH being in "their" ring, so to speak. Afterall, there was the rumor last year or so that HHH wanted to do show that his hardcore match (with either Batista or Flair, I can't remember) could outdo anything that the ONS could put on.
It's just a message board, people. Chill out. Now, go show your internet diapproval of me! YEA!

Batista vs. HHH Hell In A Cell was the one. And he was right

For some reason, I just don't think they will ever pull the trigger on RVD as World Champ. They would have in 2001/2002 when his pops were rivaling Austin. Surely they wouldn't have RVD job to HHH at One Night Stand would they? I mean, surely they wouldn't use that as a way to bury ECW once and for all. Would they?

lol that would be great. Hey that ECW poster looks alright and the lineup with HHH and RVD looks correct... but I think it would have World Wrestling Entertainment Presents on top, but who cares, it looks good.

No, they wouldn't. If they wanted to bury ECW they'd have done so long ago, instead of keeping it fresh and ready for the occasional cash-grab. ECW is a valuable commodity and it's fairly obvious that Vince recognises that.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Maybe he'll win a Lex Luger-esque moral victory. More likely, he'll win the belt, then drop it to someone else the next night or the next week.

On Terry Funk: By him being advertised 2 months in advance, doesn't that also mean it provides Terry with 2 months to find slights, either real or imagined, that will provide impetus for him to no show? As for the Triple Threat idea at ONS: I can't see in this lifetime Vince providing Sabu a title shot. I can see a Shane Douglas/Nailz 2 hour rant on the McMahon family appearing on RAW and repeated on SD before Sabu gets a title shot.
Originally posted by spfI'm thinking this is a fan idea, since it lists Sabu who is still working for TNA.
Sabu isn't contracted to TNA. He's paid on an appearance-basis. He has, on the other hand, signed a legends contract with WWE.

I'm surprised that you guys are starting a debate about how good Sable and Steph's match was. I won't get too deep into that. I saw the Trish match again a couple days ago. I stand by my belief that the Sable version didn't match up to that at all.
