Actually, after 9/11 we started watching the noon news on our overhead in the training room. Then we noticed a magical thing. In the half-hour before the news (we weren't turing the TV on until noon) there were babes in swimming suits giving away cars and boats.

So now, I am addicted to the last half-hour of "The Price is Right"

Global's ads for Entertainment Tonight Canada that run literally during every ad break. Global does this with so many of their shows, particularly their crappy original programming like Falcon Beach and Train 48, and it makes me want to actively not watch anything on Global ever again.

Honourable mention to the Alexander Keith's ads with the irritating guy doing the bad Mike Myers-as-Scottish impression. On the bright side, the actor in the ad was recently arrested for child porn, so this campaign just died a slow death.

Ever been to Union Station in Toronto? Well, the downstairs GO train station and the entryway to the TTC station is nothing but a Global advertisement: there are ads for E-Ring, ET and ET Canada, The Apprentice, Family Guy, Simpsons, American Dad, Survivor...it's EVERYWHERE.

I don't watch Global to begin with; they don't show anything I want to watch. Of course, advertising like that doesn't inspire to watch, either :-) That kind of overkill is very much counterproductive, I think.

Edit: and what is it with their new logo? What the heck is with that, ummm...shape?

There's a (local, I think) ad for Toyota running now that I just can't stand. Starts with a traffic light, and there's this stupid song...I hate it. Just hate it.

This will get added at the end of each post you make, below an horizontal line. This should preferably be kept to a small enough size.

Well, if we are going local, we have this ambulance chaser lawyer here in Louisville named Darrell Isaacs. He has TERRIBLE commercials. In one, his "Clients" have to hold their cars on their shoulders until Darrell lifts it off of them. He's the heavy hitter.

Some old 70s jive song plays and we get some smiling doofus who looks like Adam West talking about the "joys of love" while two minutes of utter CRAP are dispensed onto my TV screen.

Doctors Nightguard commerials they air on the radio all the time. Thats the one where they play the sound of grinding teeth over a piece of classical music.

Also, being a member of the losing side of "A mans right to choose" I also want to put a vote in for any Truth.com, STAND, or Smoke Free Ohio commericals.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"Because personally if I was being choked by Ric Flair, my personal reaction would be well, "Glrrrrkkk, can't breathe" but after that... "Man, I'm being choked out by Ric Flair, this is so cool." and then some more "Gllllrrrrk, can't breathe."" (Llakor)

Emerald Nuts have consciously gone off the deep end with their new ones. Remember how they came up with groups of people such as "Evil Navigators" and "Extreme Nurses"? Now it's "Enthusiastic Matadors Exercising Religiously And Littering Do Not Use The Steamroller". Insanely contrived.

That eHarmony guy just bothers me. Too much hand gesturing.

Agreed. Bob is the MAN, and that little song they whistle is damn catchy too.

Are you guys kidding me? Those commercials are the WORST! My hated for Bob approaches my hatred for this man:

For similar products, have can anyone not love the oh-so-subtle NFL-flavored Levitra commcercial, with the guy moping around his backyard, and then suddenly can throw the football through the swinging tire repeatedly, *ahem* pumping the ball through the hole over and over. Good times!

Apparently you've never noticed the long, tall glass of iced tea Bob's wife is holding at the end of that one Enzyte commercial.

BACK ON-TOPIC: Those Jessica Simpson-Pizza Hut commercials are SO bad...

YES!

ALSO BACK ON TOPIC: I hate those commercials for the Dyson cyclone vacuum, and I hate that Dyson "I just think things should work PROPE-ah-leh" jerk even more.

That new Diet Pepsi commercial with Jimmy Fallon is annoying as hell.

"Speaking of Thomases, I loved your recent Atrocious GM Summit column, although I think that you flatter Isiah Thomas far too much by suggesting that he is merely one of a number of atrocious GMs. The truth is that Rob Babcock and Billy King are Einstein next to him. The mess he is creating right now in New York will be studied by business school students 50 years from now alongside Enron and pets.com."

At least they have a built-in excuse/explanation. The Cheerios ads where people manage to sing in every key but the right one, at the same time? Ye gods.

Gotta agree on this one. My friends wife bought one of those mixing/blender things a few months ago from the TV infomercial (you've seen it) and made a homemade batch of almond butter.
