Friday, i drove down to Raleigh, to see the Canes take on the hated Tranta Maple Leafs.
I ended up getting seats right at centre ice, up against the glass.
And at one point, who is sitting right in front of me? Two of my least favorite players of all-time: Lindros and Domi.
Coolest thing about the Canes game: after every goal, who comes on the jumbotron, but North Carolina's favorite son, Nature Boy Ric Flair!
-- And, having seen games all around the country, it's safe to say that hockey crowds have the most attractive women. (not young girls, that would be college football in the sunbelt.) Usually MILF-y types in their 30s, either wearing business apparel or sweaters. Last night, there was some hot chick wearing a blue Leafs sweater and a white mini-skirt. jumping jeter!
-- The only downside was this extremely annoying white trash chick sitting right behind me, yelling all night about how the Leafs Jeff Oneill was a traitor for leaving her canes. Loud and obnoxious, if she hadn't had such a thick southern accent, I'd think she was a jersey flyers' girl.
-- People in Raleigh are now under the spell cast by Rod Brind'Amour. Tons of his sweater in the crowd, usually worn by fat chicks.
-- Amazingly, despite a near-capacity crowd, it took out about 15 minutes to get from parking lot to the interstate. try doing that at Fed Ex.
The RBC Center is a fabulous arena. I saw Summerslam 2000 there, and never had any problems with the traffic. Isn't Ron Francis a Leaf now, too? That's the one that hurts the most.
Pandas are absurd. Life is absurd. Life is Pandas.

No, no-first Domi sprays water on you, then you have to go after him.
I think you mean first he sprays water on you, then you drunkenly fall through the glass sprawling all over the boards, still tumbling like some human slinky. Then he sprays you with more water and laughs.
(Okay, so I only have one memory of Domi doing anything entertaining with his career, but it's a damn good one)
Well, I attended my first Canes game of the season last night. 2 things of note;
1) Ric Flair "whooing" and strutting on the jumbo-tron will never, ever, EVER get tired. I especially enjoy it when the crowd picks up on it after the first goal and subsequent goals get 'Whoo' chants before Ric even appears.
2) God bless Brind'Amour, but he was WAY off last night. There were about 4 passes during the game that went RIGHT to him and he just stared off into outer-space. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
Now the question is, how is this going to affect the cap? Will we also be able to resign Hossa or are we going to unfortunately see him walk? The big dilemma had always seemed to be, Hossa or Franzen because you're not getting both.
