The only reasoning I can think of is that it's the Leafs' third jersey, which I think they get permission from the league to wear every now and then. It is screwy, though.
Yeah, those white sweaters from the Philly game have blue shoulders, while the road sweaters are almost entirely white - mimimal striping, numbers, names and logos notwithstanding. They're so white that you can tell what brand of shoulder pads guys are wearing. Also, the third jersey (w/ blue shoulders) has the old-time logo and lace up neck.
It threw me off, too, since most team's third jerseys are coloured.

I was more surprised to see the Leafs actually win a game than I was by their jerseys. I'm heartened to see that Philly might not amount to much this season, however...if the Leafs have to stink, we can take a-hole Bob Clarke and his crew down with us.
On the flip side, congrats to ABC for hiring Tim McGraw to tailor the lyrics to "I like it, I love it" for every halftime highlight show throughout the "Monday Night Football" season. Just last week, my buddy House and I were discussing Cosell's classic highlight narratives in the '70s, and how nobody had approached them since, and I told House, "Only one thing could ever come close, and I know it's a long shot, but what if ABC hired Tim McGraw to tailor the lyrics to 'I Like it, I Love It' for each week of NFL highlights throughout the season?" And wouldn't you know, it happened! See, dreams can come true. --- Bill Simmons, www.sportsguy.net

I know! First I was worried they would go 0-82, then they lost the first 2 so I figured it was actually going to happen, but now, NOW, IT'S ALL CHANGED! I started planning the parade route last night! THIS YEAR'S THE YEAR, GUYS!
Okay, here's the deal. The Calgary Flames send a 5th round draft pick to the Colorado Avalanche for LW Dean McAmmond. The Flames pay part of the salary and whatnot, but McAmmond cannot play a game for the Flames this season (with 13 games remaining).
