Beat me to posting a thread about the Dream, daddy.
Dusty Rhodes back in business with WWE is interesting. While the dirt sites are all speculating on what he's meeting with Stephanie about (Hall of Fame, WWE Legends, Starrcade and Four Horsemen DVDs, a role in Creative), I was thinking about it and the role I really wouldn't mind seeing Dusty fill would be Smackdown General Manager.
Teddy Long as GM never did it for me. He just doesn't carry that air of authority the GM should have, although he tries. Dusty as a face GM would be pretty hilarious, cutting promos on JBL, Christian, MNM, etc. Besides, the Smackdown GM job is like the Defense Against the Dark Arts job at Hogwarts - it should be a transient role. Long's had the job for a year or so, it's about time Smackdown GM got passed to someone new. And very fat. If you wiiiiiill.
Anyone who watched TNA for the last 6 months will know he wouldn't be much use in either a backstage or on-screen role.
As for being a GM, I can't think of anyone Vince would hate more as the figurehead of one of his shows. Dusty's fat, old, ugly and Southern. He's like a walking checklist of all the things Vince hates. Just look at how many times he tried to get rid of JR back in the 90's.
I hope to fucking God that this is all just a real early April Fool's Joke. I fucking HATE Dusty Rhodes and refuse to watch anything he's in that doesn't involve a Horseman or LOD beatdown. Rhodes' appearances kept me from watching WCW, some ECW, and ordering any TNA...
I just want to see ONE well-booked War Games match and then they can fire him.... That's all I ask. OK, he can eff up the WWE for a few months as long as I get the War Games match. Just do it, dammit.
He left TNA shortly after they dumped him as booker and put Scott D'Amore in charge. He didn't even show up to give a reason why, they just announced it on the PPV and said Larry Zbyszko was taking over for now.
IF Dusty is brought in in a limited role, that is fine. With him, Arn and Flair on the payroll, they could be used to instruct young guys how to use words to extract emotion from the crowd. If his being brought in means that the words WarGames: The Match Beyond can be mentioned and put on DVD, even better. Just keep him off of TV. I really don't need to see Flair vs. Rhodes Episode 5 Billion. And, just the sick thought: The only "Dream Match" from the 80's that could still be done would be Dusty vs. Hogan.
I was told Saturday night it was in creative, the talks at least are about some writing position. A wrestler all of you know told me, that might sound like bull but I figured I'd pass it along even though I won't say who it was. If it turns out that's what it's about it won't hurt to say.
I've seen it on my facebook feed and instagram within a day. I already hate the damn thing. Congrats to Joey Ryan (and Danshoku Dino) for trending amongst the easily amused.
