Dark

Brent Albright & ? b Eddie Craven & Mike Fox

Velocity for overseas only
Akio b Nunzio
Mark Jindrak b Billy Kidman
Luther Reigns b Biohazard under his real name
Bob Holly & Charlie Haas b Russell "Psycho" Simpson & Jared Steele

Smackdown

Paul London is the new cruiserweight champ. They had a Battle Royal instead of a match since Chavo can't work because of his eye injury. Chavo was in the match and thrown right out. London skinned the cat on Kidman to win. Others involved were Nunzio, Funaki, Akio, Spike and one other guy.

Doug Basham b Eddie Guerrero - Mysterio tried to help when Danny was intefering. He screwed up and Eddie was mad

Booker T b Luther Reigns. This was a backdrop to get Sharmell over more than Booker

Bob Orton Jr. came out and got on his hands and knees and begged the Undertaker not to destroy his son. Undertaker had no such mercy. Of course, Randy came from behind and RKO'd him. Bob laughed.

Danny Basham b Mysterio - I'll bet you can figure out the drill by now

Kurt Angle did the Angle slam and ankle lock on poor Josh Matthews since Josh apparently was a fan of Shawn Michaels growing up. No Shawn on this show.

Akebono and Big Show had a weigh-in. The worked weights were 493 and 504 respectively.

Akebono b Eddie Vegas. This was his first pro match, and it wasn't even in Japan where it would mean big ratings. 58 seconds and short enough that it wasn't bad.

John Cena NC Carlito. JBL came out with police officers in the middle of the match to arrest Cena for vandalism. He was taken out. Well, hopefully he can raise the bail money by Sunday.

Of course, in Houston, he made bail in seconds, and Teddy Long gave the people Wrestlemania early in a dark match. They went 15:00, non-title, FU and it's over. People were super into Cena, more than anyone else on the show, and were on their feet the entire match. However, I was also told without a hot crowd, this match is terrible.

The highlight of this show as got to be the Orton angle. I may tune in just for that. Good to see London get the title as well, although it was in such a clusterfuck manner like most of the cruiserweight matches are nowadays.

Wasn't Angle supposed to have one more week of re-enacting Shawn's career? There was the ladder match, Marty and Sherri... and this week? Josh Matthews?

I don't get that.

Yeah, I figured Angle would help make/put over Triple H this week.

I think I'll be tuning in just to see Cowboy Bob Orton.

And maybe we'll at least get a London match on the pre-WM Heat.

On one hand, Paul London is the Cruiserweight Champion. Hurrah.

But Chavo must be pretty damn hurt to have to do it in a rushed battle royale on Smackdown instead of a rushed battle royale at WrestleMania.

AWESOME.

Please, Lord, did Bob Jr. still have the cast on, claiming that arm just never seems to heal?

Now that is how you get a heated feud going. And only three days before Mania. Brilliant!

I want a Rey Mysterio heel turn! Think that 'Mania could be where it happens?

I thought for sure Angle was going to ridicule HBK for not scoring even one fall over Bret Hart in 60 minutes. Then he would've scored like 5 falls over the hometown jobber in 3 minutes.

Well, actually, they've been building this match since January, when Mysterio beat Guerrero three weeks in a row on Smackdown. I don't know why a lot of people are acting like this is just some thrown together match with no long term stroy to it, because it certainly is not.

That Bob Orton stuff sounds brilliant. And if he had the cast on...let's just say I'm watching this segment.

A good thing to come out of this Smackdown: If it does indeed end with Cena getting dragged off in handcuffs, JBL loses the title under the WWE 50/50 Rule of Booking. (Which applies to everyone except Batista, of course, so now Undertaker is going to be winning as well, dammit.)

Personally, if they're going to do the title switch in a rushed battle royale, I'd rather see it for free on Smackdown than spend $50 to see it at Wrestlemania. Yes, they should be using the cruiserweights at Wrestlemania, but I'd rather not the cruiserweights at all than see them in a rushed match. (The Cruiserweight Open last year was a joke, and they shouldn't have to be subjected to crap like that again.)

*sighs* Whatever happened to the good old days of "respect matches" between babyfaces where no heel turn was even considered, let alone assumed? I wish they'd just play this Eddie/Rey match like Bret/Piper & Bret/Benoit: two classy individuals with nothing but respect for each other tearing it up just to entertain the crowd. It'd be refreshing, you know?

Triple H & John Bradshaw Layfield remain world champions; there is a significant backlash against the possibility of John Cena as champion; the state of the tag team divisions is reaching new lows; the cruiserweights are being ignored as usual. Wrestlemania is providing hope for the future as it usually does, just not nearly as much as last year. (March 30, 2005)

IDK, everyone looks pretty good in the vignettes. I'm trying to remember guys who looked good in vignettes who ended up bad on the mike. I can't remember his name, but that "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" guy comes to mind.
