In a bit of a stunner, the Giants have closed the door on Plaxico Burress. In what was originally thought to be a no brainer, the Giants did an about face and are looking elsewhere. I am sure this has to do in part to Plax cancelling his visit earlier this week due to illness, which it sounds like the Giants did not believe.
As a Giant fan, I am glad they passed as I feel Burress is a bit of a head case who would wilter under the NY pressure. They SHOULD have gone hard after Mason when he was cut by the Titans.
As for the future, I am sure the Giants will go after some lower lever WR (Bradford, Gardner) and will look to the draft. As for Plaxico, if he does not wind up in Minnesota, I will be stunned.
I think you're an asshole. No, no, let me correct that, an immature asshole. Which is fine, except that you're marrying my daughter and I'm afraid that my grandchildren are gonna be little assholes.
I just didn't see him & Coughlin getting along. Burress is too much of a "me" player. I'm really interested in seeing where he ends up. The Vikes could really use & afford him, but they are in a good position to possibly draft Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards.
Anyone know what Plaxico is trying to get, moneywise?
The Philly papers (philly.com) keep insisting that the Eagles will swoop in if Plaxico becomes a bargain. Not sure how I feel about that. TWO loudmouth WRs on the same team?

Don't forget we still have Freddy Mitchell!
"Now that you've built up the courage to get into the gym, let me give you five reasons why you should put in the time to train with consistency: 1. Increased strength 2. Improved self-confidence 3. Injury prevention 4. Self-discipline 5. Sex (Trust me, you'll have a better shot with the ladies if you're in shape.)" -- Making the Game, pp. 14 - 15
I'd be surprised to see Mitchell in an Eagles uniform much longer. He's pretty much talked himself out of town. Of course it remains to be seen whether or not he's traded or outright released.
Apparently the problem wasn't the fact that he's overestimated his market value. Burress has fired his agent (sports.espn.go.com). Let's see if Rosenhaus can make him a bit more marketable.

I also believe that he refused to take a physical. If you're going to spend large amounts of money on a player, you need to ensure that he's healthy. Burress would have been a bad fit with the Giants.
Strange move by the Giants. Buress and Coughlin don't strike me as a marraige made in heaven, and Plaxico does have a tendancy to flap a tad under pressure.
Not that there's any pressure in NY of course. Oh no....
Of course I'm still not cocky enough to say thank god we didn't take him. When the alternatives Todd Pinkston it tends to dampen ones spirits a little.
Yeah, a night playoff game in Philly is gonna be wild. I was at the Tampa Wild Card game on New Years Eve 2000 and it was absolutely krazy. (and that was a 4:00 game, if I remember correctly) We showed up late morning and the lots were packed.
