Okay, I have a question that my co-workers and I have been trying to get examples for. We're trying to think of movies where the female character asks the man character out for a date or in some sort of romantic way takes the initiative for something other than pure seduction. Our brains are all fried so the only things we came up with were:

1. The Simpsons ep where Ned is asked out by the movie star who comes into the Leftorium.

2. the part in Notting Hill where Julia Roberts gives that awful "I'm just a girl asking a boy to like her." speech.

Help! :)

In Li'l Abner the plot mainly surrounds Sadie Hawkin's day (where women ask men out); otherwise, Pretty Woman, perhaps?

40 Days and 40 Nights also has something like that, I think.

There's always "Miss Congeniality" where she gives this 'you think I'm pretty, you want to kiss me" speech to her crush.

I hate to admit having seen this movie, but in "Sweet November" with Keanu Reeves & Charlize Theron she makes the first move. :-)

May I ask why you guys are looking for these films...?

I'm not sure if this counts, but I just wanted to mention the sort of love scene in The Bourne Identity with Franka Potente and Matt Damon. She's the one that iniates the romance, and it was totally hot. And we didn't even see anything...that's how hot it was. I love you Franka!

In the tradition of the Sadie Hawkins Day dance.

In the movie "In Harm's Way" (imdb.com) Captain Rockwell Torrey (played by John Wayne) is asked out on a date by Lt. Maggie Haynes, RN (played by Patricia Neal) a few days after they meet at a party. While the actual asking is not done on camera, Maggie does explain to her younger roommate Ens. Annalee Dorne, RN, exactly why she asked Torrey out, rather than the other way around. Basically, Maggie's reason boiled down to that once men reach a certain age, they become set in their ways, and if women just sat around waiting for a man to make the first move, nothing would ever happen.

Catch The Thrill on "Pick of the Week": taped Tuesdays at Planet Magic in Denmark, WI; on the air Sundays @ 1 am on WB-14!

Didn't Teri Hatcher ask Dean Cain to marry her in some episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman?

Or was that a dream sequence?

Or was I just thinking about Teri Hatcher again...rrroowwwrrr...

Didn't Andie ask Blaine to the prom in Pretty in Pink?

Sigh...now I have cursed myself to have the words, "What about PROM, Blaine?!?!" running through my head. Shoot me.
