Why no Survivor love this season? I don't think I've seen one thread here for the Vanuatu gang...

I was happy to see Chris win after the women's alliance proved to be the most unlikeable group of people the show's ever seen. Not telling the guys where to food is, denying the men the chicken wings when EVERYONE there is literally starving... it was refreshing to see the fat redneck somehow squirm his way to the end.

Anyhoo, why no discussion this season? The predictable voting patterns (old trumps young, then boobs trump manjunk)? It's not like this season was as bad as Thailand... what gives? Was anyone actually watching?

I didn't see a single episode this season.
I did watch some of the final tribal council and found it entertaining even though I was totally and completely lost and confused.

I just didn't want to get involved. It seemed that the All-Stars had just ended. Maybe they if they only did one season in a calendar year, I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed.

I watched it, and thought it was good. Getting tired of the sour grapes final tribal, when the jury gets to bitch and moan because they lost.

Props to Chris, and the new season looks pretty cool.

For once, the guy my wife and I wanted to win, won. Chris was awesome in navigating the choppy waters of the self-destructive "women's alliance". Once Scout was out of there, I was happy with whoever won.

I am also tired of the bitchfest that is the last council. IT IS A GAME, get over it. I remember the last real Survivor when Lil was in the final and she got grilled for lying. Felt like that happened all over again this year. Let's face it, you are forced to lie if you are truly out to play the game there.

I liked the fire Chris showed in his last few victories, especially the final one. He didn't sell himself very well at all when giving the jury reasons to choose him, I thought.

And how overblown was the thing about Twila swearing on her son's name? Am I wrong or does at least one person in each season do that? I'm sure it happens more often but we're not shown everything. God, they were beating a dead horse by hammering away at her so much in the reunion special and even in the jury tribal council.

Who else thought the vertical maze was a good challenge? A bit long, sure, but it was visually impressive and actually pretty tough-looking.

It wasn't that great a season, but I look forward to the new one - simply based on location. Palau could very well be the best location so far, unless it's crappy weather.

Didn't miss a single episode - it started slow this year but came on strong once Chris was the last man standing. Ami proved to be a superior player who let herself get caught when she got a little too confident in her safety. (It also helped that she may have been the hottest female survivor we have ever seen on this show.) Sour grapes or not, I was glad to see that for the first time in a while the jury seemed to recognize the game play that got Chris to the final 2.

Palau looks like a great location and you know that Burnett will not be able to resist the chance to integrate the miliatry background and setting into some of the challenges. And 20 Survivors.....could we be seeing 4 teams of 5 ?

I think it would be cool to not have tribes one year, and have them all go solo from start to finish, would be an interesting twist to a show that could use some refreshing.

I never missed an episode this season... In fact, I'd say that this is the only season that I watched from start to finish. I was glad that Chris won though. He deserved it as he played the game smart. He just sat back and watched the women fall apart.

At the last Tribal Council, I found myself asking the same thing that Scout said last night 'since when did everyone get so self-righteous?' Twila swearing on her son's name isn't anywhere close to Johnny Fairplay and the dead grandma gag. Everyone brining that up over and over again got to be old hat. If that was the reason why people voted against her, it's utter and complete crap.

But, kudos to Chris for playing smart. Taking Scout and Twila to the Final Three over Eliza would have been my choice too. An old lady with a busted knee vs. a straight shooter that no one liked vs. a young gal who had won immunity once before. Easy choice there.

Meg: Being a single mother is hard, but the real challenge is having a baby that's addicted to crack. Right Stewie?

Yeah, but the only reason that worked was the nature of the final challenge. He's lucky it was a physical style challenge, otherwise if Scout wins he's out of there. Twila came close in the second last challenge, but physically I'd back Chris over her. I thought it was a risk to go with Scout and Twila if he wasn't positive about winning immunity. He could have taken Eliza and beaten her easy.

AFAIK, the last challenge has always been an endurance challenge in the "first one who moves, loses." So he probably was factoring that into his decision.

Well, not ALWAYS, but I had to go back to Australia (2) to find one that wasn't. Apart from that they have all been balance/hold position style.

It is obvious that Survivor needs something new, and having more groups would be a fun twist. It would also drive up the Survivor Buff total.

But as for Ami being the hottest of all the seasons, she wasn't even the hottest of the Vanuatu group. For all Eliza's posturing and talking, she was WAY hotter than Ami.

WADSWORTH: The games up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun.
SCARLET: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick?
WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram.
SCARLET:That's not six.
WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one.
SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one.
WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one.
SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!

The piewife and I didn't miss any episodes either. Actually, she fell asleep before the whole reunion show was over though.

Chris was brilliant. He reminded me so much of Chris Jericho by the end. I was expecting him to use the phrase "ever agayne" in the final tribal council.

As for Palau, we also immediately thought of 4 teams of 5 or 5 teams of 4 for the next show.

While a lot of people think this show is past its useful life, I will continue to watch it for its continued entertainment.

The gimmick of Survivor has passed, but what makes it watchable is all the weirdos they pick up for the show. I actually applied for this season..but lost my required video, rendering my whole application worthless. I wanted to have them fly in my dog for the "visit from home" segement. I figure there's never been anyone named "Erick" on the show, so I've still got a chance. I probably would've gotten as far as Travis/Bubba. I would've made sure to drop Pringles and Schick Quatro into all my conversations on the island.

You guys are right about all the complaining at the final council. The first rule of a battle royal is the same rule of Survivor. "No friends/everyone for themsevles". Talked to my old man about this and he agrees.. "ya' gang up to throw out the big guys (Sarge), then work on the little guys".

For another rasslin' connection...doesn't Julie look like the offspring of El Gigante/Giant Gonzalez? Her impending Playboy pictoral will seem all the more disturbing now.

Eliza? Hot? I can think of a couple of thousand adjectives for her, and HOT would NOT be among them. Bug eyed and horse toothed, does not make one hot. Ami was cute, but she is just Teo Leoni with a boob job.

Dolly was hotter than them both, but Leann was my personal favorite this season.

As for the Tribal Council turning into a bitch fest, what do you expect when all that was left was Sarge, Peg Leg and a bunch of sea hags? The females always turn it into a "I thought we had a friendship" or "she's such a bitch" eery season, it was to be expected. I actually had Twila picked as my winner after the third week. After gettting the last three right, I felt a bit let down at my underestimating Chris.

I just read that "Desparate Housewives" scored a higher rating that the "Survivor" finale, and that, as a series, was the lowest rated season of the entire show.* I don't really watch the show, but has the quality dropped that much? I'd would've thought this show-since it's REALLY a game show-could run for a while with strong ratings.

(*Sorry, I've got no source for this. I read it in the elevator in my office building, on one of those screens that constantly scroll headlines. I've learned all sorts of fun things through this. For example, I just read that Jenna Bush is planning on teaching in D.C public schools. Yikes.)

Here's a source for you: http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/12/15/nielsens.ap/index.html

ABC's dark comedy beat the "Survivor: Vanuatu" conclusion in the Nielsen Media Research ratings Sunday night, the first time in nine editions that any other program has beaten the ultimate edition of the game.

The 19.7 million viewers who watched Sunday made it the least popular "Survivor" finale ever. "Survivor: Thailand" had 22.3 million viewers in May 2003. More people actually watched Thursday's penultimate episode (20 million) than the finale.

I think this is due to just too much reality tv. While I'm not complaining about it, I know very many people who are turning towards more themed shows now. Come on... Fox has a show called "Who's Your Daddy?", where a woman who was adopted as a child has to figure out who her birth father is out of a pool of eight men. Not to forget American Idol in January (But I love that show). It is getting to be a bit much now.

That's supposed to be Doomsday? I had read he was going to be a part of this season, but I had no idea he was main cast. There were definitely some pages missing from the script. For example:
