So much for X-Men 3, the prequels and individual movies start now.

20th Century Fox has started work on a "X-Men" spin-off featuring Magneto. Sheldon Turner ("Amityville Horror") has been hired to write the screenplay.

The Magneto film will begin early on in Magneto's life, when he was being held at a Nazi concentration camp as a child. He will flirt with being a protagonist for part of the film.

The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, who was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war, and while they bond over the realization that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies.

...so Professor X is over eighty years old?

I don't buy this story at all. Sounds to me like a reporter got overzealous and took a couple brainstorming sessions as newsworthy.

In the X-Men comics Mangeto is so strongly tied to the Holocaust, and Professor X so strongly tied to Magneto's history, that various anti-aging plot devices have been introduced to make it possible for them to have been running around in the 1940s and '50s without being too feeble for their present-day adventures. The movies haven't established any of this for Xavier yet, but if they use him in a Magneto movie I suppose they'll have to.

In the original X-Men continuity, Magneto and Prof X meet in the middle east as young adults (say mid-twenties). Since that time, Magneto has gone through some processes that have made him both younger and taken him back to his original age (by Eric the red?) and, if I remember correctly, Prof X had a new body cloned by the Shi'ar after his body was taken over by a Brood Queen (which was why he first formed the New Mutants).

Nowhere in 40 years of comics had Prof X ever liberated Magetos from the concetration camps. As I recall, Mags was shot and left for dead, saved only be his then emerging powers.

Stop it. Seriously. Stop trying to make sense of X-Men continuity. Just stop.

When are they gonna do a version of X-Men, sequel, prequel, threequel or otherwise, where Cyclops is not such a giant, Pamela Anderson-sized pussy?

You've never read X-Men comics, have you? Cyclops is ALWAYS a pussy.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Man, maybe you never read any of the X-men comics. Cyclops is fucking awesome when a competent writer is on the book. Cyclops is a consumate leader and tactitian, and is one of the absolute most powerful mutants in the world. Unlike, say, Wolverine, Cyclops' power is a burden that he hates, but he still soldiers on. That's compelling. If you want to read a good Cyclops story, find some of the stuff Nicieza or Byrne wrote.

Cyclops has never had any sort of personality. This somehow or another gets translated into him being a "great leader"

Keep in mind that Chris Claremont has always had a thing for really powerful, dominating female mutants. See: Storm, Jean Grey, Selene, Emma Frost, etc.

Cyclops is a study in an emotionally wrecked individual who really only excels at one thing--leading his team. I have never really liked him, although he is listed as an "Alpha Level" mutant with the likes of Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Prof X, Jean Grey, Franklin Richards, and some others. Cyclops' power is okay, I suppose, but he could always be killed with a gun (or actually blunt force trauma). The only thing that can't hurt him is his borther avoc's energy blasts.

IMO Storm and Magneto are the most powerful energy-manupilating mutants (with Prof X, Jean Grey, and emma Frost being the most powerful telepaths). I purposely excluded Franklin Richards from this list as his powers (while cosmic) are usually supressed via mechanical means because he is too young to control them.

Magneto's power over magnetism also gives him power of electricity (since the two go hand in hand) and makes him extremely formidable--it basically allows him to manipulate ALL forms of energy. Storm can manipulate the atmospheric energy to create weather. 'Nuff said. The old 80s version of the Handbook of the Marvel Universe did an excellent job of explaining how everyone's powers worked in a very realistic manner.

And yes, Storm did beat Cyclops for leadership when she was powerless. In the Danger Room, no less. Sucker.

They found their mom, who is 50 times more important to the plot than Danny is, so there's that. Rachel is the pot of gold (hair) at the end of the season 1 rainbow. Danny shot down in a hail of bullets is my pot of gold.
