And the newest addtion to the annual viewing is the Pee Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special. Seriously, this has to the best network Christmas special ever produced. Go buy the DVD now!
Count me among the worshippers of "A Christmas Story". Even though I own the DVD, I still have to have TNT's "24 Hours of A Christmas Story" running in the background while I'm wrapping presents on Christmas Eve.
I'm also quite fond of the George C. Scott version of Christmas Carol. Mr. Magoo's as well. I just don't own a copy of either at the moment.
In recent years I’ve been watching The Ref with Denis Leary regularly around Christmas time. I think it’s one of the funnier Christmas time recent movies that have come out in the last 10 years.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19
Seeing the love for "A Christmas Carol" brought to mind a movie I watched for the first time last year.
Anyone catch the version with Jack Palance, set in the old west? That was a kick-ass movie. It was just so different yet it retained the Christmas Carol's flare.
Back in university (or 'college' as you Americans call it) we found an old BBC Christmas show called Bernard and the Genie, starring Alan Cumming and Lenny Henry. It's absolutely hilarious, and I always need to watch it at this time of year.
I have to admit, I hate just about every movie listed so far, I'm not a scrooge or anything, Christmas is good. But I don't like Christmas movies, the only one I can get on board with is Die Hard because the only movie I watch every year is Gremlins, which like Die Hard isn't really a Christmas movie, just takes place at Christmas.
I realize my memory is faulty (and proven so quite a bit on this board!), but didn't the "Barry Gibb Show" skit usually appear as one of the later skits the other times they did it?
