Wow, is all I can say to that one. I didn't assume the Chargers would be interested, but thats what happens when you assume. I guess its a good thing I never dropped him in my fantasy league as hopefully his stock will continue to rise.
Injuries to Reche Caldwell and I think someone else forced them to have interest.
In regards to your fantasy team, you probably could have gotten him back if you'd released him. If you had the roster space to keep him though - good move. I wouldn't have real high expectations for him right away though. It'll probably take him a couple of weeks to get acclimated to the system.
This just gives Drew Brees another weapon to prove that he's still got some fight left in him and that he's not gonna just hand over the starting QB job to Phillip Rivers.

Unfortunately, Brees is going to hand over the starting job to Rivers without a fight. Of course, that's going to be next year when Brees is no longer a Charger.
I said when the Chargers drafted Philelip Mannriversing that they were making a really big mistake and Brees has, to date proved me correct. One of the interesting stats I saw somewhere late last season pointed out that Brees was statistically comparable to several really good, I'm thinking Aikman and Kelly were among the names mentioned, quarterbacks at this point in their careers. Someone is going to get a really good free agent QB and the Chargers are going to get nothing at the end of this year because they couldn't see that Brees really is a good quarterback.
McCardell is going to be one really happy camper for the remainder of this year when he starts seeing 8 to 10 balls his direction every game. LT will be an even happier camper when he realizes that teams aren't going to be able to put 8 or 9 in the box. I won't be surprised if Tomlinson ends up leading the league in rushing this year now that McCardell's there and Antonio Gates seems bound and determined to become one of the premier tight ends in the league. Throw in a hopefully healthy Caldwell on the outside, Tim Dwight in the slot, and the impending return of the best young center in the game in Nick Hardwick and you've got a really good offense looking at you.

edited to note that ESPN is now reporting that Reche Caldwell has torn ligaments and is out for the rest of the year so you can ignore my previous comments about a healthy Caldwell in the Chargers lineup. Also, I really want a Brees jersey in the powder blues.

THANK GOODNESS. Morgan has good speed, but drops too many passes. We'll see how Bryant does instead.

And then the 49ers proceeded to make the retarted decision of hiring Erickson over Cottrell Ah, but the Lions got the better coach(for the present at least)
