Well, he EARNED the first Super Bowl ring, but the second came somewhat in spite of him, though he had a nice Super Bowl. You can have Antowain, since we've got COREY F'N DILLON. Whooooo~!

Poor Eddie George though. Wonder where he will end up. (Jets?)
No way he goes to the Jets. (Curtis Martin and LaMont Jordan) Oakland, Dallas, Tampa, and Philly have all been mentioned as possibly being interested, and as long as he doesn't go to Oakland, I'll be happy. That being said, he probably ends up in Oakland.

So is Eddie George at this point (or at best, slightly above average at this point), and if McNair wasn't playing on one leg at the end, they absolutely could have gotten to the Super Bowl.

Steve McNair could've grown a third healthy leg out of his ass, they still were NOT beating the Patriots. Sorry.
And another thing: "if McNair wasn't playing on one leg at the end"? Hahahahahaha. The guy is ALWAYS hurt in some way. I think the Titans should start Billy Volek for 14 weeks and bring McNair in for the last couple of games and the playoffs if they want him to be healthy.
(I love Steve McNair, but he's ALWAYS limping around out there...)

It's not like that game wasn't there for the Titans to steal it, though...he led them to just outside of game-tying FG range before the drive died.
And yes, McNair does in fact play when he shouldn't sometimes, but he's one of those guys like Marino or Favre in their primes who can play at 100% even when they were physically at about 70%. We'll see if he can still do that 5 years from now, but he was nowhere near 70% in the 4th quarter of that playoff game against New England.

By the same token if I didn't think Miami would be 3-8 by that point, I'd say sit Ricky until December so that he's not banged up/running on fumes by then. Last year in December he was like a car in Grand Theft Auto after running into a few too many street poles and taxis.
EDIT THREE DAYS LATER: Fuck, this retirement thing is all my fault.
Eh, if the Titans had found a way to beat the Patriots, they wouldn't have beaten my Colts-- in fact, the Colts would be the Super Bowl Champions.

Ahahahaha. You think the Colts would've beaten the Panthers? With that Defense?
Please.
There were only two AFC teams that could've won the Super Bowl. The Chiefs and the Pats. Goddamned Pats.

The Chiefs D wasn't exactly top notch either, mind you. And the Colts actually have a couple of good WRs. There is a reason the Colts won in KC in the divisional round last year. And I'm a Chiefs fan.
The Panthers didn't match up well with the Chiefs. Sure, Delhomme and Company could eat up their D, but for how long? And how would the below average backfield be able to stop that offense? I was pretty confident with the Pats matchup (and I was right to be confident) but the KC matchup would've had me sweating bullets.
As for the Colts? I was rooting for both them and the Titans, because I knew the Panthers D could hold them both, and that the O was a lot more explosive than either of those teams believed.
And, of course, we already beat the Colts in their own dome.

I've watched A. Smith play since he started in Buffalo, I thought he was a decent back, I'd even call him underrated. He's not an elite by any stretch but he's solid and doesn't make too many mistakes

If the Titans had played the Panthers in the Super Bowl, the Lombardi Trophy would be in Nashville right now ... Remember that ass-whipping Carolina got from Tennessee in the regular season?
That ass whopping was the result of enough things breaking wrong for the Panthers that there really wasn't a chance to recover from it. Same thing happened in the Panthers/Eagles game during the regular season. Guess what happened to them in the playoffs?
And remember, back in week six, Carolina was still just learning to use its offense, and the Titans were, ya know.... healthy.
But that's just how I feel about last year's AFC contenders. Give me ANY of those teams except the Chiefs and the Pats and I would've been grinning from ear to ear.

And Whitebacon, you may be right about the Chiefs. I forgot that they had started to fade down the stretch (starting with the Bengals loss), but still... I look at the box score of the Colts/Chiefs game and it makes me shudder.
Guess we'll see how it ends up in the regular season this year.
